T’boli Culture and Zipline Adventure at Lake Sebu

Last Weekend, our office decided to have our Christmas Party at Lake Sebu, South Cotabato. From Davao, our van travels around 4 to 5 hours distance passing Sta. Cruz, Digos City, Saranggani, Gensan, Koronadal, Surallah, and many more municipalities.

Lake Sebu come its name from the T'boli word ‘sebu’ which means lake. Therefore, in English it could be said Lake ‘lake’ or in T’boli as Sebu ‘sebu’. There are so many resorts established within the area. In fact more than 30 resorts are open to serve you. Punta Isla Resort is where we stayed overnight. Entrance fee is just P5 - the place has a nice overview of the lake, and developed amenities. Room’s rate with 7 beds and 3 comfort rooms is just P1100, affordable enough already. They have 2 pools – for kids and for adults. They have floating restaurant also which serves a variety of tilapia viands.

The town in known for its 3 lakes and 7 falls. Zipline is the best adventure established in Lake Sebu. With just P250, you could enjoy the experience of the highest zipline in Asia, which has a wide forest and number of falls amazed your view. Don’t worry about the picture coz there is a photo booth wherein you could grab your photos through hard or soft copy in affordable prices depending on the package you want to avail. From the ground level, you could try the tribe’s daily exercise of approx. 774 steps upstairs back to origin. Here, you badly have to take your time, have a bottle of water on your side, and most of all have a good heart to survive. Don’t be discouraged, coz there’s a group of motorcycle which could ride you back for just P15 if don’t have the plan to walk uphill.

Boating is a good activity early in the morning. Here, you will be toured around their largest lake. Boat ride package is P500, inclusive in this is having a tour guide which doesn’t just tour you around but shares a story of their culture and traditions.

The biggest percentage of the population is T’boli, followed by Ilonggos, Cebuanos, and then Muslims; and most of the people here are Christians. In family tradition, marriage can be made through [1] freedom from both couples within the tribe, [2] match made, or [3] fixed by parents of both parties. But in modern days, different tribe can now engage with the T’boli tribe; however the tradition of giving dowry is still required. The male must give 10 horses, 10 cows, hectares of land, or other means of properties to his bride to be. As soon as the vow has been made, the wife must remain faithful in his husband for a lifetime, coz if she intends to cheat or break the marriage, she has to return back the dowry double of what has given. Quite unfair to say that the husband has the freedom to break the marriage if he wants to with no given charges. For the T’boli parents, having a girl child is blissful coz they could have a properties once their daughter get married. And in reverse, it is a big headache on their part when they have a child boy coz they badly have to raise animals, and earn properties for the future.

Fishing is the main employment of people in Lake Sebu. They were blessed of a wide hectare of lakes which could raise fishes, mainly tilapia. No doubt why tilapia has been their meal's main course. Numbers of small floating houses or huts are observable along the lake; this is for the fishermen to stay at night to monitor their fish pens from the cheaters and stealer. There are so many islands and islets also situated on the lake itself. Most of them are named based on their physical characteristics such as the ‘crocodile island’ of having a crocodile shape and the ‘three fingers island’. There are other attractions also in this place, such as the wild duck viewing and lavishing the hot and cold spring, however you have to trek for a number of hours just to reach on it.

T’boli culture and tradition is weird, and fun on the other hand. But what arises is the richness of it which makes us amazed and entertained. People in Lake Sebu are hospitable and helpful. They welcomed and served as more as expected. They helped me also on the time I get fainted on the activity we’ve made.

I love nature! More when it was embraced with adventure. The place doesn’t just give us fun but shares knowledge also which makes me love the place more :)

Lake Agco – Beauty at the Foot of Mt. Apo

Mt. Apo is one of the famous land formations in the Philippines. Because of its 9,692 ft height, it is considered as the tallest mountain in the country. Said to be a Davao’s pride, but geographically situated at Kidapawan City, number of kilometers south from Davao. Aside from mountaineering, there’s more Mt. Apo can offer, it just waits to be discovered and enjoyed.

Last weekend, BoB friends had a getaway at Lake Agco Resort - another trip embracing nature. Love it! The place is really cold. Even though we arrived at about 4pm, we couldn’t see bight blue sky; instead it’s all white and fade gray. Part of the place is covered by fog, which made us look ignorant, more when we experience the sunset. So nice! The mountain turns its color from blue to purple, pink, and orange; and then a rainbow amazingly appears. So nice! Really nice!

Pool - Water came from a spring. There’s a pool for adult [4-5 feet], and another one dedicate for kids.

Mud Pool – It is one of the best. It was kind of eww at first sight because of its chocolate color, but the real thing is its so relaxing. The water is so hot. Your body must slowly touch into the water ‘til it fully adjust with the temperature.

Sulfur Lake – Here I could say that Mt. Apo is real an active one. The water is sulfuric, hot, and boiling.

Falls – There’s a small falls we’ve found just few meters from the sulfuric lake. The water is cold. Weird hot and cold.

Sauna – Heat of the steam come from some part of the mountain. All natural, and my friends love it.

Falls – Just few meters from sauna is another falls but before you could reach to it, you’ll badly have a short trek. The steps are really slippery yet enjoying.

Jacuzzi – I THINK the water is from a hot spring. So relaxing! We could really easily appreciate warm water because of the cold environment.

Souvenir booths are located just few steps from the resort’s entrance. And for me, their dahlia seedling [worth just P10] is the best pasalubong especially for our parents who love raising plants/flowers.

dayTour Experience @ Eden Nature Park & Resort

If you want to unwind, spend good time with your family, friends, or special people in your life, don’t forget Eden in your must-to-go list. Eden is situated at Toril, southside of Davao, it can be reached through public transportation by motorcycles roving in Bayabas Crossing. Last weekend, I together with my friends decided to have a getaway. It’s so rare to spend time with them in a group that is why we make it sure that everybody will be having fun.

Around 9am, we had our brunch at Chowking, Toril and commute right away. We paid P180 for the dayTour package with snack. Here, the fun begins! First on our list is zipline, It’s not my first time to zip that’s why I’m so excited and supportive on my friends who haven’t done it yet. I guess it’s the shortest zipline in Davao, but it is still nice because of the pines and trees underneath us. Next is Indiana Jones, what’s nice about it - it’s free and unlimited. Wooot! It’s good for kids and for us who’s young at heart. Obstacle course and horse back riding is also there. For P85 you could enjoy two rounds of horse riding. Sad to say that on my turn, rain starts to fall, and all we could do is to have a refund and move on to our next activity. Thanks with James, he always cheer me up. We’ll probably experience Eden the next time around and enjoy things we haven’t made from this visit.

Rain continues to fall, and we can’t take to waste the rest of our time to just wait for it to completely stop. That is why we decided to have a mountain trek. Embracing nature indeed! Such activity is really nice. The feeling is like lost in the forest coz all you could see are the tall trees, different forest plants, rivers and bridges; you could smell the scent of green leaves; hear the sounds of rare insects and animals, and even splashes of water; and feel more like in a rainforest because literally its raining. Thanks for the trees we cannot directly feel the water drops. The trek took for 2 and a half hour. Wow! Could you imagine that? We’ve survived hiking on difficult and slippery steps up and down all the way. Such great experience! From this, one thing we’ve learned. We’ll not do a mountain trek again. First time is enough. Hahahahaha!

DayTour Fun @ Pearl Farm

Pearl Farm (PF) is one of the prestige resorts in Samal. You could avail it as dayTour at P1850 per person or overnight at about P5000 per person. It can be booked through online or in any PF booth dispersed in malls here in davao. Pearl Farm has many activities to offer. They have sports area (courts) and water recreational activities (aquasports):

intro to scuba diving - P3082
banana boat - P 770/day
snorkel set - P330/day
sea kayak - P 440/hr
wake boarding/ skiing - P2200/30min
boat cruise - P4000+/hr

They have introduced also to us their new aquasports called snuba. It is a combination of snorkeling and scuba diving. Here, you’re oxygen and other gears are left above the water while you are conveniently can dive underwater. This activity lasts about 20 min. and package must be in a group of 3-4 pax.

I together with James, Mole, and Naprey booked for a dayTour. Assembly time is 7:30am at Pearl Farm Marina Wharf, Lanang Davao City. Here our bags are checked. No foods and drinks allowed. Don’t forget to bring also the documents given to you coz it will be used for verification and registration. 8am and the transfer is ready. Lantsa ride is free, and the transfer took for about an hour. Since there’s no food and drinks, their staffs distributed a bottle of water to every individual.

On our arrival, their staffs welcomed us and offer a glass of fresh juice drinks. So refreshing! On our first step, the fun begins. First we did is to go uphill. It was so steep but when we got to the top, wow! So nice.. The place is so peaceful and private. You could overview the islands near pf.

As we tour the place, the roadway is simply narrow yet enough for people to conveniently pass on. There's no issue with this since the area is not crowded unlike with the other resorts. They are 3 types of rooms (as I have known) samal houses, mandaya houses, and hilltop/balay rooms. They have 2 pools also - one is the infinity pool just in front of the main area.

We stayed for a while in what I called their ‘mini park’. They have swings to rest into. You could also just sit down on the bermuda grass chitchatting. Near on it is a small falls. So nice! Embracing the beauty of nature. :)

When we decided to check their samal houses, school of fishes welcomed us. Wow! That’s the biggest school of fishes I’ve ever seen. They were calmly stay put as we are amazed on how they behaved. Several of fishes are there – too clear on our sight and cam to be captured. Since we are booked as dayTour, we don’t have room for accommodation yet number of huts dispersed in different area await us to have our rest.

Lunch time is 11:30 to 3pm, and we have a free lunch buffet. Ayeeeeh! Food is unlimited except for drinks which are charged. Foods are not just delicious but are also soooo cute. Various foods are available – bread, rice meal, soup, fruits, salads, and desserts. After our lunch, we decided to go to Malipano Island (still part of pearl farm resort) coz it has a wide shore suitable for swimming. We are serviced on a private boat for a transfer. The island is exclusive; there is no other tourists intend to join us so it just means – we owned the island that time.. :) I was amazed when I saw fishes swum on inch-high water along the shore. Wow! Fishes are really feeling free despite on our presence. Amazing! Back in PF main island, we also get enjoy in their infinity pool. It is accessible from 9am to 9pm with proper bathing suit. It was my first time swim with clothes off. Thanks that the water is at my shoulder level, I don’t have to show off my precious body. LOL! just never mind.. hihihi.

About 4pm, we have to leave PF coz it’s the end of our dayTour. As our lantsa leaves, the staffs lineup and wave (foretelling a goodbye and thank you for the visit). The service is still so warming. While on our way home, back to davao, some of the passengers get distracted for a dolphin’s appearance. As I turned left, wow! It’s really a dolphin… Ayeeee!

Pearl Farm experience is really great. And I wonder how it is when night. Next time :) but it’s pretty not that soon coz honestly it is quite expensive.

I Heart Kadayawan

Madayaw.!

Kadayawan has been part of every Davaoeños. Even on how we deny it, reasoning work and other matters, there’s always part of ourselves urging to spend time to celebrate. Kadayawan Festival is a weeklong celebration. The City Government, NGOs and event officials prepared list of activities showcasing the arts, culture and traditions of Davaoeños. This is also a thanks giving celebration for the bounty, beauty and richness of Davao. With the theme “Ten Tribes, One Vibe”, it gives way to the oneness of Davao people.

Every year Kadayawan is one of the events I always look forward, and I won’t dare miss it.

Last Friday, Aug 19 - ASAP Rocks Davao at Abreeza Mall. As usual the crowd filled the event area. Spending an hour watching asap artists, Kapamilya stars and the hottest dance crew G-Force' performance is already worthy.

Saturday, Aug 20 – Indak–Indak sa Kadalanan was the highlight for the day. This showcases artistic interpretations of colorful and lively traditional tribal dances right on the streets of the city. That day, we took our work, hoping we could still cope with the said event afterwards. Even it is still raining, I found a company to spend my kadayawan. Gaisano Mall was out first stop, Skeights band serenades us. SALE is one of the things we like with kadayawan. It’s shopping or just window shopping time.!!! Rizal Park [2nd stop] Dance Move contest with some artists as its toppings encourages the crowd. With our eagerness to eat durian we went to Peoples Park [3rd stop]. Outside the park area, street foods and stuffs lined up. One thing we've enjoyed here is FOOD TRIP. There’s also a booth selling souvenir shirts. ‘I Walk’ Kadayawan – the shirt interests me since it really reflects our kadayawan experience. We walk all through searching for durian.? Hahaha. Magsaysay Fruit stand is well known for selling fruits (more especially durians). If you want to eat durian without hesitations, simply go to Magsaysay near Uyanguren area and it won’t let you down. At last.! The search and crave is over.

Today, Aug 21 – Floral Float Parade. This is the only big event I always enjoyed since past years. The event just shows how bountiful Davao is. Floats in small and big categories are made from various flowers, fruits, and vegetables. Even how hot and crowded the place is, their creativity definitely captures and entertains its audiences.

Davao is truly a home place to be proud of. There are more events to go. Enjoy guyz.!

Fun @ Samal Scuba Diving Experience

You don’t have to know how to swim. Just know how to Breathe… Equalize… and Enjoy… :)

Davaoñeos were so fortunate to have a bountiful and rich natural resources. Samal is one of the proud neighbor of davao. It offers a vast of marine spots which is open to every individuals who want to lavish this such greatness. Last Sunday, Aug.14, I together with Napz, Angelo, Mole and James had our first Intro Scuba Diving experience with the CDC (Carabao Dive Center). It was a week before when Napz invited us; and with no doubt, I joined the group.

The day was fun.! We took the boat ride @ Anne-Lise 3 together with the internationals. The trip was like a cruise – Chinese, Americans, European pipz and the locals in one boat. While on our way, the dive master instructs us the Dive 101.

Dive is not that too serious, instead it was totally fun. Each diver has a dive master partner so there’s no way to over think danger since they were always right behind you. Gearing up is heavy. We have to belt weights, carry gear and oxygen, and took one big step down to water. But that’s not an issue on me [I’m such a wise girl ;)] – I geared on the water so I couldn’t feel the weights. Before going through underwater, my dive master ensures that I know how to handle pressure. We took a test to equalize off and on the water. It would be unease to dive down then up then down repeatedly -more pressure would probably occur.

Experience underwater was like in a new world. The place was sooooo beautiful. I was like one of the characters in “Nemo” movie. I met him with his friends. Different fishes, sea anemones, corals, and other sea creatures. School of fishes swim together with me; sooooo wonderful. :)

The dive was so fun. Though, I never remembered to check my oxygen and pressure level (lol). Thanks to my dive master, all I have to do is to get amazed and have fun. Even were already at couple of meters down, I never got the pressure [TIPS: every about 5 minutes, I equalize... don’t wait pressure hits you). There just a time that my sense of hearing was too clear. I could over or exaggeratedly hear the noise of the bubbles and water current. One thing I hate on it was that I don’t know how to communicate with my dive master foretelling about that noise. Just grateful it didn’t lasts long since we changed our course. Breathing through the oxygen equipment is easy to handle but as time passes it would definitely dries out your throat. Thanks to there goggles, I don’t know how was it designed but at sometimes I could breathe through my nose. Amazing!

Last Sunday, Elements Fashion Show for a cause has been successfully held @ The Event Centre SM Davao. Its intention is to gather donations and help for those affected davaoeneos from the flashflood happened last 3 weeks ago.

A group of local designers came up to a cause showcasing their designs and collections. The motive of the runaway show is in 4 elements – water, earth, air, and fire. A friend of mine, Oscar Ibasco was one of those designers who have been part of the said event. All of the contributors, designers, models, artists, productions, and even the sm davao gave there’s efforts for it without any means in return. Such an amazing hearts. :)

The event foretells also to its audiences on how to value our ecosystem, thinking from the natural disasters we have encountered. Keep the environment alive.! Balance the elements that make us survive. I was touched with the messages of their productions. The water around us was created clean, yet now we have to buy that clean water. What’s next, the air we breathe.? Establishments today avails ‘wifi zone’, how about in the future.? Can’t take to imagine establishments would next avail ‘clean air zone’. Let’s put into a realization on how these things came up. What future could we give on our next generations. Let’s be part of that restoration. :)

Just a Time with my Own

Ups and down come, and we should be mature enough to handle these things. Life just ends miserable if we continue get bitter for the world. I should grow up. I’m just thankful that even though how hard-headed I was – there was someone who never left me. Even though how naïve I was - that someone understands me. Even though how ‘kulet’ and stressful I was – that someone still check and talk with me. And even though how immature I was – that someone still eager to teach me. Thank you.!

It is hard to see the wrong side of us. More that we have the urge to defend ourselves and prove things right even its wrong. I admit and it’s not that easy to cope from it. In everyday have passed, I always failed, tolerating such weakness.

For a while, I should think nothing else just myself.
For a while, I should not mind how people do and think of me.

I should learn to befriend myself coz not all the time, people always there for me..

I'l smile and wait the world smile back at me.. :]

It rained again…

Localized thunderstorm started the city since last Tuesday. I was deeply fall asleep knowing that it was just an ordinary rain. In the morning, the sun shines brightly as the tv news details the tragedy happened in the city. It was extremely unbelievable. I never thought that davao could experience this at young. I always love davao – it is a well developed city embraced with clean and green environment. But, there’s always some things go beyond our control. Many lives lost, damaged properties, and left numbers of homeless families. It’s a life changing for those who are affected.

Nights passed, the rain still kept on visiting as if he’s not yet done. I guess it’s a trauma. Every time it rain hard, I remember the tragedy happened in matina area. I have watched the episode of ‘Gikan sa Masa para sa Masa’ this morning, and I do agree with the point of Vice Mayor Duterte – the only thing that the victims fault is because they are poor. You could never blame the families residing side by the river.

One thing I’ve learned from this is not to make prejudgments. In every part also of our lives, there are always ups and downs. And it is only within us on how to evaluate those things. It is within our selves to say what we have lost were just too small from the blessings He had given and would be given to us.

It rained again… I was in my room, nothing to do, so I took my pen and started to draw. At somehow, it peaces my mind before going asleep.^^

It has been a year when I made my last entry. I got hard to spare some time to write and post. But now… I miss writing, making drafts, sharing thought and ideas. Rejserenity has been my online journal during my college days. At first, I thought of dropping this and start over again. Yet as I skimmed over of my late articles and comments, I can’t afford to start from scratch and make them lost.

It is not hard to decide what my new post topic is – it is all about photography. A number of my friends has been attached with this. It has been there hobby already.

About a thousand years ago, pictures were made literally by hand. It is through paintings, drawings by pen, brushes and ink. Honestly, I more appreciate it than the way of taking digital pictures of today. Photography is an art of light. Some chemicals change when the light emits them – they were light sensitive and that makes photography possible. I have read an article introducing Sir Louis Daguerre as the first person who took photographs. Oh.! How genius is he. For sure, he never dreamed of where his works would lead. I wonder how he got the point of getting image into a very much smaller than the actual object being pictured. Thanks for that, otherwise no one could ever took picture of a building, landscape, skies and mountains.

Photography is a wonderful hobby. The sense is not just about fun, but in a wider view, it gives us much clearer idea of many things than the words alone can give.

Christmas Break

Great Indeed!

It's nice the feeling of having a break from a long days of work. Dec 23 we have our office Christmas party., dinner was held at Banka, Lanang.. and the party was resume in our office, it lasted almost early in the morning. That was really fun, exchange of gifts, games, and chibugan. One thing amazing was my first time to sing along - i sung 'Hero by Mariah Carey', anyway that was part of the game - and nothing to expect, im just one of the girls who got consolation prize, enough for a taxi fare way back home hehehe. Dec 24 - 27 was our Christmas break, anyway that's not really the real term.. we're not obliged to work for that way, and im just grabbing that oppurtunity.^^

At Christmas Eve we had our exchange of gifts, i gave sandal to mama and i recieved shades from te Juvy.. whew.! hehheehe Christmas seemed to be more special because of long break, salo2, gifts - sandal from ya James, bag from Alona, Hair kit from ma'am Kath and pink bath towel from sir Mike.^^, a lot of fun and smiles, and the effort of my boyfriend to spare his to time to be with my family on Christmas day.^^

Today, back to work, cant help looking forward for the New Year break.. Dec 31-Jan 3.. whew.!

Turning 3D SketchUp Models Into Reality

Last review, weve tackled many IT concepts, Sir Loy shared amazing things in relate with our discussions. He shared with us the concept of blocking.. Blocking fasten the access time in retrieving files yet the counterpart is the wasted space.. He shared that if we would just expand our curiosity we could come up into an innovative idea of utilizing that space. He shared also the use of file compression - it could save its size, however a good quality was still a necessity on the other party. Some researches greatly deal with this. They uses a gadget with a million frames per second that even you take it in slow motion, quality information was still captured. There so many concepts we talked about, till we come up to the idea of turning 3d sketchup model into a reality. This made me curious. I searched over the net and i found an article bout it.There was a company named, Sweet Onion Creations which deal with 3d printing. and the process goes this way:

It starts with a very fine white powder that resembles cornstarch in consistency. The toxicity is so low that it is almost food-grade in quality. On the computer, a house or hillside is sliced up digitally and made into an outline or “pancake.” From here it is fed into the machine and each outline of that pancake traced out using a small dispenser on an “x” and “y” axis. A sugar and water binder is applied to temporarily glue each layer together. It’s commonly referred to as an “additive process”. The best part is it generates the least waste (97% is recycled back through) which means less cost for our clients and easier on the environment.

However, the success of the architecture model hinges on a perfect “water tight” Computer Aided Design (CAD) file called a Stereolithography or STL for short. Preparing this file is typically the most tedious and difficult task of the entire process of going from 2D drawings on the computer to the 3D model in the hand. If not carefully produced, a corrupt CAD file causes the model to “blow up” in the machine and the results are fragments of building materials that simply crumble upon removal.

Nice to know bout it. Sometimes i wonder if this would be common in some ways, maybe i could apply it in business (in a dream.^^) I always visualize of having an stand in mall catering this service. Some would draw a cake and in just a couple of minutes - a real one would appear.^^ know one knows^^

24th Kadayawan showcases the floral beauty of Davao

Kadayawan Festival was celebrated every third week of August. Few of the main events were Tunog Mindanaw, Hiyas sa Kadayawan, Panagtagbo, Sayaw Mindanaw, Indak-Indak sa Kadalanan, Moda Mindanaw, and Pamulak Kadayawan.

Last August 23, 2009 we have witness the richness and beauty of Davao in floral matter. The day was started with Floral Parade from 8-am to 12nn. Different organizations around the city joined the event. Few of the astounding prsentation were from Concentrix who got the first place in intermediate gategory and Sul Orchid and placed second , not just with my own perception but also with the judges who rated theire floral float. These presentations were displayed at SM City Parking Lot C which gives opportunity for the visitors to take some pictures. Likewise, i was amazed with the floats they have created, more specially with Concentrix and Sul Orchid where we mostly take some pictures with. I liked the concpet of Sul Orchid whch they showcase the beuty of orchid in davao, their float where composed of waling2 and orchids of different colors whcih is really too expensive to think of. However, The float of Concentric is much nizer where they shows the 'lumad' which were the caretakers of Davao's culture and traditions.

Moda Mindanao was held also at SM City Events Center. It was like an exhibit of native costumes, flower, sandals, and shirts designed uniquely in relate with the year event. There is also the agri-trade fair and horticulture exhibit where you could see varoius plants, flowers, fruits, shells, artworks indigenously from Davao. With just an entrance fee of Php10, you could wonder the mini forest/garden in the Horticulture Exhibit. Most of the exhibit shows the beauty of waling-waling.

**I'm kind of disapointed for this late post. I couldn't visit blogger.com in my unit. i guess it was blocked or what so ever by the server.. *wink. i tried to ping the blogger.com and get its IP ad, i place it together with its URL under system32 of my unit. Weeeh., fortunately, i could now visit and post an entry.^^ nice curiousity..

G.I Joe: The Rise of the Cobra Review

Last time we watched the movie G.I Joe, it seems to be unintended activity. Anyway back to movie, just a brief summary bout it. To start, The Mars Company is selling a warheads to NATO, and the US Army was the one tasked to deliver it. Duke and Ripcord who are intended to do the task were ambushed which was recognized as Duke's ex-fiancee, Ana Lewis. They were rescued by the G.I Joe Team, which led for the two of them to join the team. McCullen is revealed to be using the same nanotechnology to build an army of soldiers with the aid of the Doctor, planning on using the warheads to bring panic and bring about a new world order. With a tracking device, McCullen locates the G.I. Joe base. Unfortunately, they have retrieved the warheads, they have weaponized and use it to destroy the Eiffel Tower to show the warhead's destructive strength. Thanks with Duke, he have deactivated it, yet it's too late, and have damaged the large area. Fast forward, G.I Joe located the base, and the fight was continued. In this course also, Duke find out that Rex Lewis, Ana's brother believed to have been killed on a mission, was alive and a doctor itself who implanted Ana with nano-mites which has put her under his control for the past four years. The ending was kind of weird, i guess there would be a next movie for this.

The movie was, really fantastic, i tend to reminisce or future tech presentation last time when i was still schooling. Many innovations was now introduced to lighten the work of human kind, and even make possible the things hard to made by our past technology. Nanotechnology was one of the controversial artificial intelligence revolution. It was well researched and developed for medical purposes. Now, it wasn't just involved in biology but also for personal interest - power, which definitely resulted in war. The movie, shows that nanotechnolgy starting to emerge, not just to be help but also to kill people.

PhilNITS Review

That was yesterday, Saturday; the PhilNITS review for the upcoming October exam was started. It was a kind of new agenda on me coz ever since I took up the exam, I’ve never been in a review. It’s really a big help on my part coz I’m already working, and reading books and minding any matters is not in priority anymore. It really needs a push for me to take time with the books and spare some time for a review with my own. Here, I really have to, I’m so thankful for another sponsorship entrusted on me, and so I have to exert some effort for this. The review was kind of fun, I start to socialize with the schools, and I gain new ideas, techniques and knowledge from this. I felt that I’m schooling again, I’m not focused with just one concept but with a wider cope of IT concepts. It’s not a kind of pressure on me also coz I’ll just take AM exam for the removal. Not that stressful that sucks. Yet realizing the fact that this is another set of exam, I’m just hoping for the last time. Sometimes we tend to discuss the consequences and it really bothers me. Come what may..

Sometimes I tend to wonder what really the main reason why people get contented and became happy. In every person, there would be a certain stage where they found love. Many argue bout it, bout pain, hurts, jealousy – few to mentions; instead love is the reason for them to stay happy. Honestly, I doubt bout this. Last time I’ve hear an astounding line from the character in a teleserye – ‘Is love just enough to be happy?’ I tend to ask myself and I found it worse.

I’m that that good enough, I’m not an ideal girl for even typical guys, I’m stubborn, short-tempered person, unattractive, and I don’t have any good stuff. Yet God really loves me. He gave me a partner who really gives concern despite on my weak points.

Last time we went to Shrine Hills in Matina, it wasn’t my first time, yet I found it strange. The place is so peaceful and the view was still nice. It’s good to see an effort to find way for me to be in peace. The place is so refreshing, and nice to be with someone who really cares. That time I realized, love is not enough to be happy. Living life with love and peace really makes you feel happy.

Second Step

This day i reported in our office for work. In the first place, office works are intended from Monday to Friday, and and weekend days are just optional. For regular employees, this would be a nice incentive for them. Nothing's big deal why i have to work today, however, there are still reasons why i chose to.

I have spent a month already working as a trainee here in our company, and fortunately last June 30 my recommendation for probation was approved and it was effectively implemented last July 2. With this concern, I have realized that I'm not a trainee anymore, and i must practice myself to be more independent, and refrain form asking too much questions, instead i should learn from my mistakes and curiosity.

Today, there are about 7 of us working, and i am just the one working in our team. There is no kuya Alf that would assist and give me tasks and things to do next, it was quite different from before, but i know i could handle this. Sir gene give concern and asked if i know what are the things i should do this day, I am confident that i could do this with my own. This is a challenge.! hehehe...Back to the main issue, honestly i work because i want to have a make-up for my future absents - hehehe is that the right term.? i dont know how to express it, anyway about next week i have to work for my requirements, nbi clearance, police clearance, bir application, philhealth application, sss number, tin number, and occupation permit. I doubt i could make it for just a day, that is why i want finish my assigned tasks as soon as possible for me not be left behind. I like working Saturdays, no pressure, no limits.^^ After this, I could spend some time for my extended friends.

I'm just want to say i'm ok, and im doing good. Good luck us all.^^

My Weekend Break

Now that I am working already it’s quite unease on me to update my blog regularly unlike as before. I just have a weekend for a break. I am working somewhere in Lanang, in a web design studio handling internet marketing sites. As of now, I am still a trainee, the work is ok and what’s nice is my workmates are full humors. Our pastime is listening music and stories over the radio, that’s how fun starts and ends the day. My work is not that hard, just a simple image manipulation using Photoshop, uploading files using FileZilla, encoding data in Excel, web page creation using Frontpage or Dreamweaver, and maintaining database of the Shopsite - that’s my daily work routine. It’s not that hard to handle things except when I start to publish my works over the web. Sir gene is such a keen observer, he could see even simple details I have missed, and I have to work it over again. Most of the time, I have to extend my working hours to debug and make my daily and weekly report. The pay rate is not that high, hmmh I don’t have a plan for it to be my long time work- just for experience. Honestly I engage this work with a certain reasons; I don’t want to get bored staying in our house whole day, and I want to start a profession which is not under pressure nor stressful – just a nice start of my career life.^^ End with the issue bout my work.

At this point of time, I’m happy coz I am writing a blog entry, I miss my broken English writings. hehehe. Hmmh, honestly, I felt good to have a whole day rest, I could watch tv and read books if I want to. I still have time to help my family in our household chores and I don’t have to mind and suck my job in my thoughts. Such a nice weekend break, one thing differs is that I start to miss someone and I am certain that it would last for long.T.T hahaiz… keep moving forward..

These things are nothing unusual in IC - 5.0, INC, shift courses, extended years, yet one thing marks, ‘we are the cream of the crop’. No feeble-minded dares to enter and survive in IC. All of us deserve this gratitude.

Remember the time that we were just freshmen, we are unsure of where does IC would bring us. The long lines in Nodal laboratory, unused library accounts, the shivers we’ve been through every time our professors start to call us for participation and prepare for the tests and exams. The fifth and ground floor, the field – ‘tambayan ng IC’, remember our Math and programming exercises, no one dares to miss them. The ICEAN festival, Blue Navigator and other teams, we were just freshmen yet we’re still energetic enough to fade the marks of our stressful subjects.
And when we reach our higher year, we came back with proud. We improve our knowledge in academic aspects and still developing our interpersonal skill. The great philosophy that touches our hearts and minds – ‘We think therefore we exist’, and even the aspect of open philosophy. Life has chapters of lessons waiting for us to open, read, and learn from it.

Not for this time

Yesterday, I and Sir Loy have conversation regarding the results in PhilNITS exam last April 26. I know that I haven’t passed the exam which makes me get curious bout our conversation in phone. Sir Loy congratulated me for the job well done on my PM exam. He said I got over 700 points which made him asked on how did I make it through. It is usual that PM exam is harder than AM exam, yet how come that I passed in PM with that high score. I was about to amaze also with my score when I heard it from him. That is why he wants me to personally claim my result in the PhilNITS office. He asked also regarding my employment, and accordingly I replied that I haven’t got a job yet. It’s really hard to find a job that suited to your education and interest. I have interviewed by DOT last May 15, and it’s about web development. They said they will keep in touch with us – and I don’t know when they will call us again for hand-on, or whatever it is. Yesterday also I passed an application letter to an office, I get destructed because there was a qualification requirement that aged 22 – 26 years old, gosh I’m just 19.! However I still tried to pass my application, “nagbabasakali”. Sir Loy felt bad on it, the wasted time and my qualification. He left me a message that he would recommend me for what company he know for. Hmmh, even though it’s not that easy to, I still happy for it, there is someone who appreciated me.^^ Enough for job searching…

When I got the result, Ma’am Joy told me bout the situation and possible conditions. I got 580 in AM and 735 in PM out of 800. It’s just 20 points for me to pass the AM exam, with this, I have said it’s not the time for me or just, it’s not destined for me. Maybe, Ma’am Joy has read my mind and gets interfere. She said I have their support for the next exam this October or if I failed still have the chance for April this next year. I have not to give up coz they are looking forward for my examination for AM exam this October. I have to comply and pass the AM exam before my PM exam score would expires in one year.

Honestly, I somewhat felt disappointed with the 20 points, for the opportunity and the job waiting for, but somehow I still happy for it. It’s too had to leave your family and the people you are closed to. It’s not that easy to miss them. At least now, even its hard for me to find an interesting job, it’s easy for me to communicate and get through with people I want to be with. The PhilNITS opportunity?, I’ll just leave it for the next five months.

hmmh.. i was tired of finding job over my summer vacation.
I thought after schooling, i would get busy with the tasks intended for my desired job. I applied as instructor in one of the college school here in davao, and im looking forward for the result. Im kinda disappointed coz there's still no call regrading my application. I guess i didnt make it. Honestly, i felt unease of finding myself applying a certain job in a company, yes, its because i know im not that competent enough with. Hmmh, i dont know whats company im going through next. Aja.!

Graduation rites

There were just few events that students are longing for – graduation, the top on the list…

Many say graduation is such a delightful ceremony to recognize the efforts, motivations, and hardships of the students. Some motivate to go to college to continue their allowance, some for genuine education, for formality and certifications, and for career and bright future. Indeed these were all true. I reminisced the days I graduated in high school; I have never got bothered to ask myself on why I should pursue my schooling in college. I long every school year end to march on the stage with my mama or papa pinning my ribbons and other achievements. Long before, my main goal was to continue making my mama and papa proud of me. And schooling, giving them good grades under good influences of friends, I know for certain they would be happy for me – thanks I attained it. For the long four years in my college life, I’m happy that I got the dean’s recognition, and no other makes me more happy is to march on the on our graduation rites. I am happy for it yet honestly all things go in usual mode, except on the point where the students give honor to their parents. I got emotional on that time; I can’t hide the guilt that I had been so stubborn with my parents, the unsuccessful motivation to go to stage with my mom for such excellencies, and the thankfulness that despite of being me they are always on my side proud that at last I have graduated. One thing I’m really proud to myself this day is on my courage to inform mama bout kuya james – im really happy for it. This time also makes me realize on how I treasured and make me treasured by my friends, their overwhelming greetings really makes me happy – thanks to my fellow graduates, to my barkada, to those who greeted me thru txtmsg (lique, sir dan, dave and my cousins, mark, Anthony, Richard, riza, am2, jonard, kyt, jeany, kalile, kuya james, lady, marvin, and my ever dearest friend Hannah) tnx guyz.^^ and also to all who greeted personally, tnx tnx tnx.^^ I just want to extend my congratulations also to my dbkadz graduates, and my friend marvin, happy graduation tnx a lot.^^ happy graduation all.^^

its been so long that i haven't post an entry on my blog.. sorry guyz... yet to summarized my past days after my previous post..

* i got my grades, and im so glad that i got an excellent grade in research.
* the, it last about 3 days having insolvable problem - a family probz.. honestly i didnt take it so i just cry, cry and cry for the whole day.. hoping so that at least some dose of pain and bothering would get lost.
* bz day with the yearbook and recognition preparation.
* recognition day - im hapi that day, i got an outstantanding IT award and 1st honor fro dean's recognition
* PhilNITS offer for the avail slot for taking the exam - nice its free and its really nice opportunity..
* clearance is on the way, at the latter part, i help mark to complete the signature from designated positions.
* a conflict in yearbook - thanks it was then making a good stand at this moment
* graduation practice kinda not good coz we are last from the list hmmf..
* a short vacation - i together with my family went to Montevista to attend the graduation of my brother.. we stayed at my auntie cora's house.
* kuya's graduation - im so proud of him.. their award was a surprise.. and honestly we got surprised on it.. he gained 7 gold medals and 1 certificate.. a big WOW.^^ he deserve it.^^
* afterwards we went to our farm in camansi, montervista.. we just spent just a night and early morning on that place..
* holy week is starting.. and we will spend it here in davao.. except with my sis who stayed in our farm, she planned to come back here this coming 13.^^

Uncertainty

It has been so long since I last post a blog entry. Days seem so hectic with requirements and deadlines. And at last, I had a break. After my research has been approved and ready for hardbound, at least I could say, I could have some time with my self –enough sleep, clear mind, family bonding, and friends outing. So refreshing.^^
Things now are not that hard to deal with – specifically in academics. Life is uncertain, even in my mind, future was not yet perceived. People tend to ask bout graduation. ‘Graduating student man ka rej noh.?’…’When in.u graduation.?’… ‘Humot njud ang toga.? Hehe’… Every time people ask these, I kept on questioning before, could I join the march this April 16.? Could I graduate? Hope so.^^
Those things bothered me before, but now it gone, replaced with new face of questions trigger to bother me more…
What my life is after graduation? What job I would be working to?...
Life after schooling is more complicated, some people tend to continue their education in the other field, and some change their course, focusing in their career.
After graduation, what my life is.? I want to work, yet honestly I am afraid of what life would bring out on me. If I’ll work, in what field I could say I am competent enough..? Could I survive in the new stage of my life? Ever since, I’d never experience working professionally, maybe that’s one thing I am afraid of engaging in the competitive real world of business and employment. I don’t really know, where would regina be after graduation. Even clues, no where to find. Hmmf…

The days are fast passing by, it’s already March and the graduation is now approaching. Research, Internet programming, and Multimedia system development projects are still not yet finished, but graduation is doable, I know it for certain. My motivation to graduate and have work afterwards pushes me to do and work my unfinished projects. As of now, I am doing my presentation and tabulation of data. I have been through of data gathering from my respondents which are the IC students. I tried to make some initial presentation on my findings and ask if it would be ok if I would consult my adviser on how I interpret my gathered data. Just a few days later and the finals would end; I know I should double time on my schoolwork. Thanks that there is my adviser who is very approachable and willing to help on my research. There is my family who is ever supportive and gives inspiration, and also someone who is so enthusiast in helping me in my studies.
Sometimes people would get ask some questions on themselves regarding on other people, some things are hard to explain, ‘studies first’. We are on the midst of time where studies must be mostly considered – some things could wait.

ITE Olympiad – Research Presentation

This event was a surprise to us. We were informed just last Monday, it has been cancelled last Wednesday and then informed us Thursday that we are going to present our research this day – how hysterical. But the support of Sir Gamby and Sir Val is still high for us to be encouraged despite on this what they so called organized event. One day preparation, just about 15mintes practice and the show is on. The event bothered me a lot; I was separated with Gly and Nes because the sequence of presentation was based on clusters. Before my presentation I spent time with them, its nice coz during the presentation of the school, we tend to discuss also regarding their topics. Agnes broke the trend that theirs no comment after every presentation, and I guess its really nice idea since we could get more information if there is open sharing.

Around 4:30 I got to go on my presentation, I was shocked when the organizer called me with my research title. The presentation must go on. I presented just the way sir Gamby suggested during our practice. Kuya James commented that I was little bit get nervous on my first part, I agree with him coz I could feel it yet later on I gain my confidence. What’s the most remarkable part of my presentation was my entrance – shocks never mind.^^

After my presentation, we go back for Gly’s presentation. It’s nice to see the interaction of the students. It makes the forum more lively and informative. It’s nice to see also that sir Gamby appreciated our presentation. After the event, we take some pictures for memories and archive.^^ Even the fact that there is just 3 audience ( James, Cheng, and Rhod) for USeP delegates, the presentation was well supported still by sir Gamby and sir Val. Thanks a lot.! Such a nice aftie. !

Is USeP doing enough privacy in electronical matters?

Every institution is aware of the possibilities of leakage or hacking of data. With this, they try their very best to render this concern. This discussion reminds me on my past post around the month of August 2008 entitled nodal anomaly. Openly, I don’t want to make it a big deal to protect the name of the ‘ban of brothers’ but then, this is indeed a suitable situation in relate with this discussion. Changing IP configuration and bypassing logger through disabling system file which enables the logger to appear as default. There is a time also that the virtual learning webpage was then cannot be accessed because it was hacked, but then thanks to the wide knowledge of the administrators to handle this concern. Anyway, these situations are few to mention of the flaws in electronic transactions. However, I know for certain that the university is having a good administration in handling these possibilities. It is not easy to deal with this issues, it badly need an experts to protect the necessary privacy. Admin are doing their job well to correct the flaws detected by the users.

I stated in my past article and still want to say it again. ‘“Users are good testers to discover system faults” this is one way for us to be more innovative. In addition, we IT people must adopt the “egoless” attitude. If there are faults and misleading, it was just the part of the system, not on the developers own. Blaming system failure to a certain group is unethical in technical aspects.’

Integration of Online Applications in USeP

I guess most of the institution’s systems and transactions were done in the traditional way –manual; and we can’t dent the fact that USeP had been part of that count. However, as time goes by, the technology and organization’s approach changes its face from manual to stand-alone system (offline) to online with the use of internet. Internet had been the center of transaction nowadays, however, it is not that easy to shift or integrate the existing data into an online system. In this way, there would be so called- hybrid (integration of tradition and online system).

Most of the systems proposed and developed by the students utilize the power of networking. However, it is not practical in shifting from the traditional means, we would start from scratch - input all the data online one by one. It is nice idea if the existing files mostly stored as excel would be imported or uploaded online and converted into records into the database. It is good also if reports are not online-driven only, but instead printable to the users and even can be exported back into the usual means (excel).In fact there is so many applications, such as [1] online administration between administration and faculty and students – online/networked memo dissemination is one of example application; we had tried to do this so before, such a nice concept. [2] Web forums – shifting the traditional way of learning from the 4 corners of the room to a virtual community, most of students call this as virtual learning. Most of the discussions can be done through threads and sharing of ideas would be more effective. [3] Online grade and advising – it is undeniable that enrollment is one of the most complicated system we have, through this system we could have more organize way in enrollment time. [4] Online quiz – this is one of the nice concept but one of its drawbacks is that students are prone to cheat with there colleagues. Online is a nice strategy to back-up files and even do the transactions, it can be access everywhere we are at anytime we want in the access control given to us. No wonder why our system changes its face into online.

In fact I was amazing with the system proposal of the lower years the integration of systems in the university through intranet.

FutureTech Final Presentation

This event was presented by the FutureTech class consist of 4th year BSIT and BSCS students. This is said to be different from the previous presentations since this was held at the Social Hall – USeP. The success of this event gives us serenity due to the circumstances that had been encountered. In fact, this presentation had been postponed many times, and I was then felt ashamed with our adviser and other big people involved. We are already fourth year studs, in a way; we must be responsible enough and be the role model to our lower years. I can’t even blame ourselves that much coz the preparation doesn’t go in the nice flow. Letters, speakers, invitations – are few to mention that were hard to stick with the planned schedules. But end of that, we are now at the phase of presenting our works and future perceptions to our guest and schoolmates. Even sir Gamby gave us a simple discipline speech at the start, the event was done nicely. The groups present their diorama and video – some in trailer style, anime theme, some are serious, and the other one are in campaign approach – yet in general the video presentation was indeed great. All give their effort making media to effectively share to the audience what are their future perspectives in the field of technology they represent.

How our school could utilize the intranet or extranet?

USeP consists of student, faulty, management – a community, definitely we need to communicate outside the institution. Website is on of the strategies we could build to have a healthy communication outside the academe. However, before we go beyond the organization, we must consider first some challenges encountered inside our school. We where technology was focus must consider the application of high-end and high tech communication system even in the admin- students and faculty communication. Designed intranet just as system administration for students, staffs, department/ colleges, and even for class that would be accessible for all would be a nice idea I guess. News updates or I said online publication would be one of the systems we could implement to; even the tradition-teaching standard can be into a revolutionized ways as forums and blogs where the teachers could post discussions and the students could access it for replies or any work. The students could access there grades online with the provision given to them. In the other way, we could utilize also the extranet through having a direct remote access in our school network for the teachers and students, which enables us to link personal or shared documents from whenever we are in a safe and secure environment. In fact there is so many systems already proposed and I guess implemented here in our school, if only those students and developers capable for making systems for the ease of administration, then eventually there would be a nice flow of organization inside and out of our school. So think wise and productive.!

Is Freeware Free.?

Most people wonder the scope of being free of certain stuffs and its difference to the others; Even me at first get confused on the how it differs from the shareware, and FOSS (Free and Open source Software). Definitely, there’s a lot difference in these terms.

Shareware: We could download it and the usage is under limited version or full version yet with limited span of time. It has the concepts “try before we buy”. It’s a good strategy anyway, we could secure that the software that we intend to purchase is under our control and choice.

Free and Open Source Software: This term is a combination of free software and has open source which can be used, make modifications and even study it without restrictions. It can be copied and distribute it with or without modifications, and the nice thing bout this that users gets the full version and features of the software just for free. But then, the source code is available under a copyright, which vary in different definitions enforced by different vendors.

Freeware? It is a computer software available to use without cost – free. It is often create by the enthusiasts distributed by users' groups, or via electronic mail, local bulletin boards, Usenet, or other electronic media. Freeware doesn’t compromise also in proprietary. It is generally used to help the developers or beginners in the community to develop their software skills, but securing the source codes. It just means, unlike the open source software, the developers don’t have access and even modify the software’s source code. Freeware is copyrighted software; it could be copied but just for the sense of trying out the software.

Just as what I had said, freeware is typically proprietary. It is not said to be totally free because of such limitations. It is distributed without source code, and restricted with a license agreement. The agreement varies; sometime the license allows software to be copied but not to sold, and just uses it for personal means. The concept of freeware gives much advantage on the world of Windows – the one dominating in proprietary system. People don’t need to be at the Linux world or any open source just to get free. Freeware is created for non-traditional means of distribution which associated of charge.

Through information over the web, I had known that there so many variations of freeware. Some tend to still benefit even the logic of distribution it as freeware. Definitely, every thing is made with purpose, and for the sense that both party could still benefit. We are asking how do the authors could benefit in there works? In fact there so many ways they could –some stuffs in return. Freeware could help in the aspect vendor lock-in, the commercial vendors often releases software to the public for free to break the dominating vendors, attracting the customers to other services. But then, when the users are required to view the advertisements before accessing the software – strategy to still gain profit, some says it’s a form of freeware but technically it’s an adware. Some also ask for donation for the authors or to the charity in response to the availability of the software, this is still considered as freeware because the donation is not mandatory but technically it is called as donationware. Some commercial software also or with obsolete copyright, had been abandoned can be distributed as freeware also - abandonware.

Although freeware does not require financial aspects in return, it still has a user license of the End User License Agreement. Each license is specific yet some restrictions in common just as forbidding altering the program, repackaging and selling it. It is often to observe that freeware is jus for personal use, and any business related use requires a paid license. We could read the license agreement that comes from the freeware program at the initial stage of installation. It is for us to agree or to deny the conformity. As we agree to the license agreement, we as users assume to hold the responsibility for the usage of the software.

The customer support is also limited. Freeware in common, doesn’t have technical support, or even Help menu and documentations. Many of the authors of these code the programs in their extra time and don’t even bother to have resources to offer technical support to the uses. It just means that most programs doesn’t have user or operator’s manual. Even the fact, that there are no built-in documents in the programs, the users could gain information through visiting the websites of the authors, there are newsgroups for the users helping other users – community. The users could even email them for some feedbacks and comments, some authors provide their emails for this kind of support.

Scrutinizing the thought of being the software as freeware, we must be thankful for it. We could use it for free, and I supposed it is nice to even give them some feedbacks, nice encouragement, and email postcards for thanks. Not that bad idea I guess. Freeware has proven as benefit to the computer users. With the concept of this, many talented coders was encouraged to write handy programs. Many also use it as a stepping stone to garner sales when they could create robust editions of software and with this, they could now offer it with cost. In this sense, the authors would change there standing form distributing freeware to shareware.

In summary, asking is freeware free. Of course it is free yet in a sense – free of charge, not necessarily free to used, modified, studied and redistributed. The freeware distribution is like a shareware also but then, except that shareware requires payment after the trial period. Now I’m practicing making simple system and programs, even I didn’t ever create it with financial compensation coz its for academic purpose, I am still looking forward in the future that I would be making for charge. I was then thankful that there are developers over there making stuffs for the goodness of the users.

Moral complication in advancement of technology

We can’t deny the fact that as great advancement of technology emerges, there is complication in moral and ethical aspects associated on it. This event is commonly found in the field of medicine, with the applications of nanobots or any means. Common complications are in the tissue/genetics engineering, the application of nanotechnology in our physical body synthesizing the humanity, longevity of human life.

I had read an article regarding the human cloning, stem-cells cloning rather, which really strikes me most. There was a research telling the success of cloning Dolly the sheep, and the embryos from the monkey, which really made a breakthrough of making the human cloning closer in reality. Human embryos will be cloned to harvest stem cells that can be grown into healthy tissue and transplanted and even cloning to create human being. This advancement of science raises a great moral issue. This advancement of science raises a great moral issue.

Research update

When I had read the reminder of our adviser on our research updates, honestly I was stroke on it. “Nothing can stand between you and your diploma—except for your thesis, that is.”

Way back in June 2005, entering in USeP without the assurance of what world would plug on us. At first, I was challenged with the mathematical problems, programming exercises, and then creating functioning systems. Being fourth year student is quite different – it’s not about mere calculations anymore. Most of the school works were documentations, research specifically.

Formulating work plan guides us students to organize our bulks of projects, even the schedules necessary for the research methods. It is inevitable that it should be at the right track always because of some circumstances. In relate with my research, I thought choosing collaborators would be an easy task. But then I was wrong, preferring even an adviser is complicated. It took me more than a month dealing with my co-adviser, justifying my work on him. But in the end I decided that it would be better if I would be having collaborators with whom I would be comfortable and would guide me to the direction preferred to. That is why, in choosing an adviser, good relationship and understanding on your topic must be considered. He would guide you through the implementation, even in the creation of questionnaire concepts. It would be better if consultations would be done regularly.

As of this moment, I am now in the state of distributing my questionnaire to my validators. I thought validating the instrument allocates just a week or less, but then I was wrong. It is not easy to please the validators to check our work whenever we want to. That is why, before presenting it to the panel, it should be approved first by our advisers to refrain from bulks of revisions commented by the validators.

Research is not just the thought of passing a research. I recognized it when someone asks me to present my research. I got shy on my work, dunno on how they would react after they read it and made some modifications and redirections. I was ashamed with my grammar, etc. with this; I realized that before compilation of my work, I badly need a grammarian.^^

The time is running fast, and the deadline is near already. I don’t want to call myself as crammer, but as of my status - I am. Potentially, finals would be the most hectic days, hoping I could survive. Aja.!

With the countless websites over the internet, the users can’t guarantee that certain site is trustable. With this, trust in e-commerce is necessary – this aspect includes some tips on how to evaluate the website. On the other hand, site owners must be aware of that phenomenon. As we could observe, not only big companies are now engaging the online transactions, even we typical individuals are related on it. About everyday there are new websites developed and the getting the viewers to stay on the site long enough to attain high search results and even trust to complete a transaction in business matter is the great challenge a new website will face. And with this aspect, one of the factors that could help addressing this matter is having a proper and good web design. Having proper web design is not that hard to attain. It was just the matter of designing of your website considering your viewers point of view. From searching over the internet, there are so many available tips on how to make our website professional, capturing a higher interest for the visitors.

Designing needs muck thinking and far-sightedness. Colors, layouts, content, and web design has an important role in determining the attractiveness of the web page and in building the trust of the user. If the website is intended to sell of any consumer products and services, then having a proper presentation is better in business exposure. In web design it needs different aspects such as color combination, shape, spacing, form and the value order which is a challenge, where the features to be considered t show the organization’s profile in a positive manner – in other word ‘professionalism’. Whatever the form or layout, it must be sensible and well- structured.

There are main points to be consider; the contents which covers the substance and the information should be relevant to the site and targets the area of the public which the website nature is concerned with; the usability, the site must be a user- friendly website where the interface and navigations is simple and reliable; the appearance where the texts and images including the styles must show consistency, in professional, appealing and relevant way; and the visibility, where the search engine ranking and advertisement media must be considered.

First of this, you must think what’s your website all about. The home page explains in detail the purpose of the site; even the necessary information introducing your site or company in business. Users must know the information of the company that he must be dealing with, and this must be considered in commercial sites. Even in normal sites, it must not be full of links or banners directing to another page just to introducing part by part of information bout your site. The user must understand the information the website really offers in its home page. It is necessary that it must be specific to hinder the users from second-guessing.

Even the font sets, styles and sizes must be considered. Not all visitors have the same eyesight. It is not advisable to use less than 10px font, in most cases 12px is used. Just as making typical presentations, documents – your website’s fonts must be consistent regardless on the heading and titles. Even the font styles, stylistics that makes the website amateur, instead use formal fonts such as Times new, Verdana, Tahoma, etc. Keep the site simple and neat.

Make the pages easily readable by the visitors by using dark fore color with a white of light background. Using light text to light background makes difficult to read the contents. Some websites applies in reverse, light text color over the dark background, which still acceptable, but then, in formal websites – they mostly use white background. It is neat and appealing to the eyes of the readers. As I observed, white background is more appealing than a dark background, it is neat and it doesn’t need more sophisticated design to make it attractive.

In constructing the contents of your site, it is advisable not to make a long paragraph on your web pages, unless it is an article or reviews – which are normally longer one. It is recommended that the paragraphs are about 6 to 7 lines with the proper spacing between each one. If the topic is long enough, then try to use the sub-titles to break it into several paragraphs. With this, it would create easier reading and it would even get the attention of the visitors. It would not be boring to read a long page of website if it is divided into subtitles, just as in ordinary book which is divided by chapters.

The content is very necessary to be considered. We must evaluate first if the content of our webpage are useful or it was then crowded by bulks of advertisements. Proving the webpage with a little content is not a good one. As we could observe, most of the websites are full of links, sales pitches, advertisement, etc. It is still good to use these all, but them in a little amount that wouldn’t cover the important information about the site. Links are useful to direct to the other page, this would make the content of your page smaller but then, it is necessary that not most of the page contains links. To make the text content shorter, you could use graphics foretelling what you want to express, but then, it is not appealing any more to have so many images in the site. You could even use videos or presentations, but we must always put in mind the loading and system requirement which could create delay in accessing the information. If you planning to put some sound in your pages, then they are necessary that it is with your visitors’ control. Some of them don’t want to listen it anymore.

That is why the purpose of the website must be clearly defined so in making the design, you could evaluate and organize the contents effectively. Collecting the list of necessary content then sorting it in relate to the audience’s need is key in web planning. In the process of content gathering, any data that doesn’t target the objectives should be removed. Then the next, it should be categorized, and each should be entitled with a concise and descriptive title. Right planning for the site’s content ensures that the wants or needs of the audience.

It‘s tiresome to the eyes of the readers to see a very long page content. It is not recommended to have a page that is more than four times in length. Some website pages have ‘read more’ link to navigate to the whole content. It is advisable when your post is too long enough to cover a big length of the page. Most websites post links, previous, next, or in numeric form to direct to the specified page number. Put it in mind, most viewers tend to leave when it is difficult to get from page to page. It would lessen there interest when the links are complicated. That is why it is recommended to put navigation page links to all your pages if necessary for the viewers to easily navigate around the website. Most pages place it on the top and bottom of the page, this is a good practice. In the other words, the placement of the navigation links and buttons of the websites must be considered.

It is necessary that there is also a link for the contact information. If you fail to do these so, potentially most people would not complete your transaction. Most people also don’t want an autobot that would respond to their concern. Most want to have contacts in personal means. This factor would help also the get closer the users and the owner, building trust between them.

Delay is one of the factors that affect the interest of the viewers to visit the site again and even recommend it to the other peers. Most webmasters embed graphics and videos in there websites. Large images and videos would definitely slower the load time of the page. Don’t clutter the page with large images that longer to load. You could list the pages you want to view rather than using pop-up. This I son the users to click and directed on it or not.

In the fast emergence of various websites over the internet, it is hard to predict that certain website allows privacy or not. The webmaster must implement a privacy policy. Spam is a crucial problem over the internet, to create users trust you must assure them that the information they are giving unto you would be in strictest confidentiality, and would never be shared or given to the other party. This is the most crucial part in instilling trust in businesses.

The website must be updated regularly. Updated contents interest the visitors to revisit the site for the future updates. This could also higher you search engine ranking. It is nice if you implement a database driven website for easy updating the pages. The visitors want the information they are reading are current and new. In this way, the site must have an administrative login section where the changes can be made even without the use of special software or programming and design ability.

Having a right resolution would make easy for the viewers to view the page. If the site is dedicate for in a smaller resolution, then the page is viewed in higher one, the user would result in scrolling it.

Let must put in mind that an easy-to-use always encourages visitors to stay and read your content. In developing a website it is really necessary that the design is well planned, this would deter the interest of the visitors. The visitors could determine if the website is quickly made off or well planned carefully out and professionally designed. In short, the website deign should produce elating effect that would encourage the visitors to come back again and view the website as genuine and reliable source. The technology is undeniably fast changing, the merge of people and machine, with the sudden explosion of artificial intelligence and other emerging technologies, resulted in a world which seems to be unpredictable. The technological change was so fast and far-reaching that the human existence had been altered. People are smart that new technology is just close in their hands. As we see, we are close to the enormous changes since the trend in quickening the nature of technological innovation is progressing exponentially. Exponential growth starts slowly and virtually unnoticeable, but beyond on it, it turns into explosive and transformative enough to say that each span of time changes the paradigm in technology.

In last decades, the internet as a mainstream technology had influenced a big change in the form of new technology. It was said that the major new trend of the technology in the year 2008 growing globally was the social and networking sites. Sites like Google Finance discussions are growing participant sin the country over the world. It offers investors the chance to chat about their stocks. The prospect of the world using global computer network is to develop greater understanding in communication. There is an easy access to bank and accounts, etc. People even in remote area are now finding new benefits for the internet everyday, e-bay for example. Even the fact that digital divide became an issue because not all people have easy access to the internet, but then, as a trend the users are growing working online and soon getting on the internet as a commodity.

In the aspect of knowing the new technology emerging at this point of time, there is no way to state them all since there are rapid developments in different area of technology in different corners of the world – transportation, communication, business, medicine, robotics, energy, education, materials, etc. And then, what’s next? In transportation, what should power the world’s vehicles in the next few decades, could it be more sustainable in the aspect of increasing global competition, even the part it could play in developing markets. Most experts nowadays are researching to have addressing a constructive way concerning the energy, the environment and the globalization. This just one of the issues they are concern for. People are now making solutions on how to renew the ruined world, and not only that, people are now renewing the face of technology in more portable, smarter, smaller, and associated in new lifestyle.

Now, this discussion just limit on the technologies where people or students like me could relate with, in short not that in sophisticated area. Smarter mobile phones, smaller memory sticks, remote storage, wireless internet, : the world technology in the year 2008 and developing for the next years.

Smaller yet smarter phones and computer. Apple released the iphone, no one would ever miss that fact. They prove that mobile phones could have easy interface in sexy package. The phone is now a functioning like a computer as they called smartphones. This is because of the development of smarter, smaller, less power usage computer chip integrated in the phone. Intel Silverthorne 45nm processor delivers computer performance comparable to a desktop computer. This technology uses just 10 times less power than today’s low power processors and can work in Wifi, 3g, wimax. More smart phones just as iphone versions are now expected and the breakthrough of the paperback-size laptops.

Portable yet large data storage. As we could observe in general, as the computer processor get smaller, so does the computer memory physical size, but then that is not the way it is anymore. As the components became more constricted, they create a weird quantum effects. By tracing the amount of copper and silicon, they believe that they could develop a flash memory that could even hold a terabyte of data. We had seen a terabyte-sized memory in some stores, but then it was then possible to be in the remote storage. Remote storage frees-up space on the hard-drive and could be a back-up in the case the computer is destroyed. In fact several companies are now offering this remote data storage, but then most are just in MB. Just as the site I am using, the hotlinkfiles which gave me about 50megabyte remote storage for free.

Digital radio. The radio is now going to be digital which allows the radio stations broadcast multiple channels, with data and images such as the pictures of artists during a song. So we are now expecting this 2009 that we could hear a bit along digital radio. The digital audio broadcast, which gives a better audio quality, is ready in the market, including the plug-in which allows users to tune in to the digital radio.

The new face of book. As experienced, reading on the screens seems harder than on the typical book which is paper-based, and this fact explains why ebooks haven’t taken off. Online book store Amazon has its Kindle which uses a unique ink technology which mimics the appearance of print on paper to an electronic screen display. The screen is readable enough for most lighting conditions, indoor and out. Kindle can be configured to automatically download newspapers, etc. and can play music files and spoken word books; But then, this not the end of the paperback books, the espresso book machine can produce a made-to-order books in just a few minutes. It was then known as ATM book machine, Once the pages are printed, an electronically controlled clamp integrates the paper together, glue, trim, and deliver the product out of a slot at the button. (I guess this would be a nice idea for my twilight saga books from pdf document). These technologies may lead the world’s libraries and bookstores into this kind of change.

Wireless internet ends up the old telephone. Voice over IP had been developed for more cheaper phone calls in the last few years, but now the introduction of naked dsl or the broadband with conventional phobe service and the rapid growth of wireless technology, migrates the in this service from the traditional old plain telephone service providers. It was then foresee that in the near future, this service includes the voicemails in email inbox, fax converted to pdf when emailed, and the possibility to direct multiple recipients in one handset.

Knowing everywhere I go. GPS or the Global Positioning System network exists more than a decade. It had been associated iphones, cars and aircrafts to help us determine where we are, in quicker and more accurate than using a traditional map. MySpot, was then launched which gives the ability to send alert from their mobile phones in panic button. It would send phone message and its GPS position that can be used to locate the respondent. Parents can now locate their ch9ils, when they arrive or leave at the particular place, such as school, friend’s house, etc.

Wearable Electronics. With the great influence of nanotechnology, it almost enters all field of technology. Through nanotechnology, experts tend to develop electronic fibers that can be woven into fibers, with interesting applications. Now clothes are not just to look good and feel comfortable, but also associated with the new style, wearable electronics. There is what we call wearable air guitar an incorporated sensor woven in shirts; a plastic badges that can be worn to detect mental depression when the person interacts conversation; a lumalive which contains special light emitting diodes integrated in to fabric to live display or billboards of texts, animations and moving images; fabric with built-in sensors and heaters; boots that can generate small amount of electricity and can even charge an mp3 player.

There are so many new technology emerges in the year 2008, would be common in this year 2009, and an expected development for the next few years. Some of the general technology was focused in energy, communication, web, and medicine to mention.

New and next in energy. The year 2008 marks a big oil price hike, which lead for more motivation to develop an alternative-source of energy. Ordinarily, the flat wires on the surface of solar cells that are used to collect electrical current prevent light from reaching the active material in a cell, reducing efficiency. The company’s new design traps much of the light that would have been reflected. The new approach dramatically helps improve the performance of solar cells without increasing costs. A number of improvements to wind turbines increases also the amount of power they could produce and make wind power cheaper, among of it is its blade design. The experts are looking forward also for better batteries for cars and other devices. Some cars are plug-in hybrids or what they so called electric cars, which consumes renewable powers rather than consuming great fuel from coals.

Web. Our collective obsession with social networking sites continued and burst until this year. Although the economy is not that good enough, the enthusiasm in sites continue to run high. Twitter, a popular but non-money-making poster child for the whole Web 2.0 industry, spawned an ecosystem of competitors, knockoffs, plug-ins, and add-ons, some of which struggled to stay afloat as the site strained under the ever-increasing amount of data produced and requested by its users. Users themselves struggled to manage information overload from multiple social-networking services, prompting some companies to come up with ways to streamline by sharing data. However, one of the biggest networks, Face book, took a different approach: it carved out a position apart from its competitors. Web companies became cheaper to start than ever before; they could simply lease access to computer power from a growing list of cloud computing providers. On the other hand, since many infrastructure services are offered by large companies such as Amazon and Google, these raised questions about smaller companies' increasing dependence on these giants. Amazon's popular storage service also began functioning as a way to draw companies into relying on more and more of Amazon's offerings. And a variety of open-source solutions jumped into the mix, hoping to make it easier for companies to understand how these infrastructure services work, while, in some cases, also grabbing a bit of market share for themselves.

Robotics. Biochemical robots which make more complex experimental surgeries, winged robots in military purpose, where few to mention about robotics, and now researchers are marched in developing robots that would travel through the blood to zap a tumor. Robotic grasping and learning is becoming sophisticated enough that people may soon be able to simply gesture to any object that they want and, without needing to program specifics, rely on a robot to retrieve it. A robot demonstrated this year at Georgia Tech, El-E (pronounced "Ellie"), a wheeled, one-armed robot, follows a green laser pointer to retrieve objects. While doctors have used capsule cameras for the past few years to image the insides of patients, they hope for ways to control such a camera so that it pauses at areas of interest. Scientists would also like to give these tiny explorers the abilities to take samples or directly treat areas of interest.

With this rapid change, some would definitely romanticize the past, and some would amaze for the future. The technology changes its face as the time passes, but then time is not the main reason for it, it’s because on the changes we want to have. Innovations and inventions give breakthrough in the stage of the technology, and we can’t deny the fact that we had been part of it. Our demands, unending satisfaction, greediness, powered by imaginative minds and skills brings out the new technology. Change is constant, and indeed we are living on it. Discoveries are not new anymore, and we are in bliss that it is helping our daily lives. With this, we must be responsible enough in using it and employ based on the purpose why I was then develop. I know, in just few years and decades to come, new world would face me through because of the great technology evolution, there’s nothing wrong to live the way it flows, but then for the common betterment, let must put in mind that we must be responsible in every steps we do.

Past technology presentation

The presentation was about last December, but then considering the delay of letter postponed the presentation into these January. That incident wakes us all to think wise, help each other and have initiative to make our work successful; even the fact that there so many struggles happened, still we presented our past technology diorama last January 5. There presentations were so nice, but then trash talk is not an exception. Some of my classmates commented our diorama as belen, mushroom, etc. It is still fun.^^ the whole day was consume for the preparation, not only for the display but also for the backdraft initiated by the group 1. Hoping so, that there would be no more mischievous hands that would ruin our display.^^ good luck us all.^^

At this point, we are making the sketch of our present technology display. Hoping so that we could finish the diorama in nice way despite on the fact of short time.

Watta great holiday, welcoming the year 2009…

Reminiscing the last year 2008 – standing as a 4th year student, bothered what future would be all about. The time I told myself that being a student is fun yet suuuuuper stressful. It had been many times that I got weak and cry for my projects, that even mama and papa get worried bout my situation. I became so stubborn and strict and didn’t notice that I’d changed. I just realize then, when my friends commented ‘bout it, that was indeed a far different from ‘regina’ before. Still I’m not a sporty person, and didn’t even engage in intrams at school unlike when I was in high school triggered by my fellow dbkadz, maybe it’s because I was focused with my studies.

As Christmas break approaches, I made list of sked for that break. I planned to read the whole book of twilight saga, list the outings and reunions, preparation for the Christmas Eve and New Year – away from the shadow of school projects aura. In fact, I just left my projects unattended that were supposed to happen to give some break for myself, even it’s bothering my mind ‘bout the future that potentially I would be cramming to work for it. I still followed my plan, and at the end, I had a great Christmas break. Our Christmas celebration was really fun –foods to mention, and the getting together.^^

That was last night when the whole family was alive welcoming the New Year 2009. Different stuffs were used to make the night fun and loud; more foods, different fung sui good luck charms and activities were done, jumped with my family and cousins for the superstitious belief that we would be taller this year, where my polka dots skirt, and save my coins – I guess there’s no wrong bout it, it was fun, I got 43 pesos coins in all lol .

As the new year came, we are looking forward also for the bright year ahead. New year resolutions are there guiding us through the year. On my part, I would try my best to be good and minimize my ‘maldita’ attitude. I wont let myself also be bothered that much bout my school works and responsibilities. Just leave in a simple and peaceful life. I know sooner or later I could adapt the way I want to be this year, I know it would be difficult at this point coz for many years I learned to accept that schooling is full of pressures and stressful, and just live with it. But one thing I know for certain, whatever we want to do or change this year, we should always live in life with God.

The widespread of internet has lead for a big change in business organization structure and even there strategies. With the accommodation of the wide range of opportunities provided which had been connected in digital platform, the companies can now construct a new face of market place from traditional value chains to a more flexible and interactive synchronized means. Electronic commerce had been a great driving force of the changes and transformation of the companies in having transactions in transfer of goods, services and information in digital means. In the main point, the business- to business relation plays a big role in changing the structure of the vertical value chains. But then, I guess what drives most of the businesses to be involved into the new B2B marketplace is the profound impact on competition. Information sites, or what they so called infomediaries provide digital services which indeed make a great effect in the strategic resource that higher the competitive advantage of the companies.

B2B e-commerce enables the organizations to have data and information exchange in electronic means, which made it to be quick, and cheaper than in traditional means which is using a paper-based system. Because of these benefits, many companies are adapting the B2B e-commerce. Suppliers who would refuse to employ ecommerce in there business would potentially lose there business, to think with the other big organizations as competitors who are adapting ecommerce who are able to meet the current demand of the consumers, which are the other businesses also. Qualitative assessment can include evaluating how effectively the B2B initiatives support your business strategy by reinforcing unique competitive advantages or adopting industry best practices. Quantitative assessment can include evaluation of cost-saving efficiencies and new revenue opportunities, both on the buy-side with suppliers, and the sell-side with channels and customers. Pricing strategy is one of the prospects that could create a competitive advantage in B2B markets also. It is noticeable that transactions online are cheaper than the traditional way, example of this is booking online. But then I had read an article which said that some business owners are realizing that market matters, and not necessarily the technology. But then, many businesses are now engaging in B2B market exchange, which in need of strategy. There are what we so called breakthrough market and the reformed market. Breakthrough market is a new field created by technology and any strategy involved wouldn’t be that helpful, it is because that entails the sweet spot in the economy. The business can continuously adapt with the trend. However, reformed market uses technology to adapt the existing way of doing business, rather than creating entirely new in doing business. They just facilitate interactions and cuts down the costs but definitely didn’t change its existing market. Any strategy could be used by the company depending on how it leads them to success. An example is the success of Google and Yahoo! Where they open up a brand new market where the existing media companies don’t have advantage – just a strategy. Many internet based B2B exchanges came to the idea of making business over the internet to lower there purchasing cost. This could be a good advantage; however, competition must not be focus in price matter. Usability and security concerns are one of the aspects to be considered – protection against data leakage.

Take it as points to ponder, know the competition; know whether you have got the competitive advantage. Many businesses overestimated also the scale of their business, so in doing a business over the internet, be realistic regarding the market size. Just as eBay have more attention in market dynamics as to technology, where making alliance with other companies and adapting still a competition, with there strategy they gain early profits and large make capitalization and strong brand quality. There are so many strategies we could create with the application of the internet technology and the environment we are working on. Just be wise.! We should put in mind that many businesses are had been successful through taking advantage of the benefits of the internet technologies, but then it doesn’t mean that changing our business structure in e-commerce lead us in success. It’s just the way how we create strategy and have analysis for a wise implementation in the business. Technology could drive businesses to competitive but then it is still in market that matters. Addressing Skill Shortage

Technology gives a great effect in our society- it changes the lifestyle of the individuals, not only that, it even affects the society. A big issue that is in controversy is the alternation of technology in the skills of the laborers. Some tend to emphasize that technology just help the people to be at ease, they just assist and not replace there position. However, we can’t deny the fact that most of the businesses and other sectors here in our country are technology driven, and the number of employees is being downsized. As far as I remember, in the MIS or in the HR subject last semester, they tackle on the downsize of the employees in the implementation of the technology and automated systems in the organizations. It really gives a great impact to the employees. It is noticeable also that instead of technology should assist the users, the users where instead had been the facilitator or the administrator of the system and the system are the one handle the functions that must be done by the users. In short there is labor shortage in some sectors here in our country. But then, there are areas that human resources with qualified skills had been downsized.

The local IT industry of the Philippines had faced the skill manpower shortage. According the researches, the average growth of the IT labor in the Philippines is about ten percent, but then despite on this steady increase, it is revealed that there is an insufficient in skilled laborers to sustain the total country’s IT growth. It just mean that the skilled workers are not that enough to sustain the needs of the industry who are now employing information technology in there transactions. It is studies that there are shortage in the people who have knowledge in programming, and software developers who have specified skills in coding in Python, VBScript, Perl, XML, which is due to the fact that there are low count in the general IT population. But then nowadays, as we could see the IT related courses had been rampant this is to accommodate the demand of the industry in the IT skilled workers. Even in the field of programming and enterprise applications with database, it is noted that the skills in Lotus, MySql are in increasing its difficulty in finding the skilled sources, and the companies are preparing to pay a premium price the professionals with this skills. If only people with these skills became a commodity then, the companies wouldn’t be hustle and hardly find the skilled one. Even in terms of networking, it emphasized that there is skill shortage, particularly in network administration. There is a clear in need of establishing a training institutions and ladderize the degree programs offered in the universities and educational institutions to produce more supply of skilled graduates due to the migration of the IT skilled workforce to the other countries abroad such as US, countries in Europe, and high developed countries. It is really tempting to work abroad, that is why there had been a shortage here in the local industry.

That is why some are making policies and even strategies to address this concern. Representatives of the Business Processing Association of the Philippines, with the partnership of the Commission on Information and Communications Technology and the IBM Philippines had signed a memorandum of understanding to help in developing a relevant and appropriate curriculum that would ensure that the country’s colleges and universities could participate and can be absorbed by the outsourcing industry. Under the memorandum of understanding, the BPA/P has committed to bring the industry an advice in developing a curriculum. This had been a great strategy that had been implemented, as a student, it would be helpful if there is a nice curriculum, and this would help the students to have necessary skills and knowledge of area to learn which are in demand of the businesses and other technological sectors. Philippines has a potential to participate in different global services sectors if only the skills preparation in the schools would be addressed and employed now. The local BPO (business process outsourcing) market had been suffering from a shortage of qualified human resources and is desperate to be globally competitive where the bigger players such as the United States of America, China are considered as big competitors.

Call center industry had been in demand nowadays as intermediary to the businesses, and among the skills sets seriously by the industry is the proficiency in English. Even in different companies, English fluent and proficient are in demand skills; and addressing this skill, the industry has somewhat develop a bridging program where so called near hires, and then they are trained further in the training institutions. But then BPO industry is also targeting the higher services such as office system automation, accounting and financial analysis, software development, where such few to mention. In moving up to this value- added BDO service, the industry had noted a need for further skills development in the universities and colleges. That is why; most of the curriculum is based on CHED and other researches that are appropriate to supply the demand of the market in technological skills. IT students like us, are really in need in the industry that is why we are filled with the right teaching to develop our skills. It is said that the kind of skills required by the industry requires a lot of technical and management skills, particularly in science and system management. The lack of engineer s in the large scale automation within all industries has lead to a steady decline in the number of soon to be professionals who are taking engineering, scientific and technical courses and a reduction in the available possible apprentices; with the increasing demand in these skills, the younger one are now realizing the potential opportunities in this area. I had read an article that service science management and study focused engineering area is a new discipline intended in updating the current skills sets of the services of today’s educational institutions. It involves computer science, information technology, information management, operation research, industrial engineering, business strategies, and management, social and legal sciences. These areas are potentially essential in the business sectors. In fact, this concept is formulated by the IBM corporation team, through its Philippine office, it had been advocated that such approach had been adapted by the country’s academies. It is said that updating the current curriculum in the formulated approach would produce a T-shape professionals in the Philippine academic systems. T- Shape professionals are the one who have expertise in a particular discipline but also have knowledge in common related disciplines, such as management, to help its flexibility and efficient professional work in the industry. The Commission on Information and Communication technology coordinates with the Commission on Higher Education, and the universities and colleges to learn how to incorporate the service science management and engineering in their curriculum, no doubt that even our university is employing this approach. With this, the government recognizes the importance of the offshoring and outsourcing in the creation of careers and job works and with the contribution to the economy of the country. The government is making programs in focus on leading the industry forward and the key is to develop the talents of the students, which are the future workers needed by the industry. The other strategic issues the country program seeks to resolve includes the lack of official recognition and visibility, lack of access to social protection and lack of access to productive resources; and to address these concerns, the programs have wise strategies such as strengthening the capacity of national and local agencies and assist in the development of a local governance framework; in which parallel efforts will be made to build the capacity of IS workers through intensive organizing and training on the rudiments of managing a sustainable organization; enhancing the official attention and reducing statistical and policy invisibility through organizing, legal and policy development; enhancing access to markets, credit, training and technology; and enhancing access to social protection.

There is really an importance in ensuring that the curriculum of the academic institutions are associated with the current market needs and this is trough the consultation and partnership with the IT companies and organizations. That is why in the universities the practicum is required, they are practicing there skills in the real world industry in preparation to there future career; this work is associated also in response to the needs of the company and the skills of students that should be develop. With the increasing demand of the IT skilled professionals, companies should be aware and prepare with this situation, and make a strategy concerning the risks coming from the labor market. An in order to sustain there needs, the organizations must also help in development and improving the skills of the coming professionals, and they must extend the recruitment and give trainings for the improvement of the laborers. They must also enrich maintenance and provide the hot skills training for the existing workers and talents in the organization to avoid high additional cost associated with there skills.

I never thought to have a nice break with the high years.^^
That was December 21, Sunday and the outing that was supposed to be at the Kaputian was moved to Jones Beach at Talomo. The white beach was then changed to a typical beach resort. At first, I’d never thought of something great from within, but as everyone start coming, all was then changed. Every second’s filled with great moments;

The day was really fun, all get laugh, swim, play games, and even trash talk as if were all in one barkada.! I really love there company, everyone took concern on how to make the day fun with all getting involved. Even the spot; the shore was peace at night, so nice to hear the ocean breeze; the wind is not that cold enough for you to romanticize the goodness of the place. The cute little carolers adds the essence of our Christmas outing. The sunrise was really amazing, I miss the times waiting along the sea shore, wondering the colorful sky and the first smile of the sun while vanishing the emergence of the moon. The outing was really great, and I bet all were hoping for a next time.^^

Fight against Global Warming.!

We can’t deny the fact, that as technology development is rapidly increasing, the environment had been compromised. Toxic wastes from factories ruined the lakes, and oceans, and even the inhabitants – water pollution. The air had been polluted by the factories, vehicles and the non-biodegradable garbage that we tend to burn – air pollution. Our environment had undergone a great disorder. Trees are slowly vanishing; we just can find them abundance only in well maintained sanctuaries, trees from forests get scarce, and cities are tend be civilized compromising the environment. The air was then filled with distinct matter. The ocean was compromised, being processed in desalination plants just to provide clean water for the citizens; many wild animals had been extinct. The Himalayas were devoid of snow and ice, even the Arctic had been compromised; the ice was then melted because of the global warming. More of the Asia and Africa area had been inhabitable area because of the very hot climate. Many diseases affect the people, and mainly the whether had been greatly affected. Whether we like it or not to say, these are all in reality which was caused by the global warming. How sad to realize these all. We observe the increase in temperature in our atmosphere, then this is what we call global warming, this is caused by greenhouse gases like water vapor, carbon dioxide, methane and ozone. This had been very noticeable in our environment that is why there is a growing awareness and concern of people in this matter. This had been a global issue; it is because the whole world is affected. Many argued that this problem cannot be solved, but then definitely that’s not true. We could make some moves against this phenomenon.

The world is changing faster as we are changing the face of technology that is always expected. Certain industries are already imposing limits on emission of carbon dioxide and greenhouse gases. Even the cities and small communities are imposing there own rules and regulations on solving this problem. Massive number of companies who uses fuels in there works and transaction and even more high technology are preparing to make a change in this altered world. They are moving swiftly to reduce the emission of greenhouse gases. The public has largely accepted this issue as reality. Everyone agrees that it's necessary to reduce carbon emissions around the world. There is less agreement over exactly how nations should go about achieving a more carbon-free planet.

Global warming already disrupts millions of lives in the form of destructive weather and loss of habitat. Hundreds of millions of people maybe exposed to food crisis, water shortage, and extreme weather conditions, loss of animals and plant species.

As an IT student, I must have the initiative to work-out for this issue. I know I’m just a student but then having knowledge and great involvement in technology, I have still the responsibility to contribute for the betterment of our environment. I know, suggesting or having environment friendly proposals would be really helpful in this case, whether we deny it or not, most of the technology was then pioneered by the creative thinkers in universities – which just mean, students had been a great part in technology change. However, with my own perspective, we don’t have to depend on future technology solutions to solve this present problem. Even in our simple ways, we could help our environment and fights against global warming.

One of the great challenges is convincing people to go ‘green’. With this discussion, one thing that came to my mind first was the campaign in school – Green campus computing. We IT people, whether we deny it or not, we are greatly one of the contributors of the existence of global warming. E-waste is waste from electrical and electronic equipments such as broken and unwanted electronic devices. They say, recycling electronic waste is considerable and must be in commodity but then there are parts that can be reused and be considered as waste. Both of this waste have raised the concern consideration the toxics and non-biodegradable. There are policies imposed in the other countries regarding this concern and this is truly a great move. Anyway, this concern is more in big companies, and even we are just individuals, we can do something to fight global warming.

Green computing had been a practice in many countries around the world. Based on wiki, it is the study and practice of using computing resources efficiently. In our school, USeP, the MIS advocacy to this concern was then realize me that there are ways on how we could help fight against global warming thru saving energy and having reduce – reuse - recycle policy. The goals is said to be similar in green chemistry; reducing the use of hazardous materials, maximizing the usage f energy efficiently in the course of lifespan of the product, and the promotion of recycling of products even the products waste. In this modern world, IT systems rely on the people, networks ad hardware; the green computing is systematic in nature, addressing this issue. This program is designed to promote and recognize the efficient utilization of hardware components, such as monitors, climate control equipments, and other technologies involved.
In terms of recycling materials, we must maximize the use of the computer system, even through changes its purpose. Many computers had been donated to the charities and this really been a big help. The outdate parts of the system may be salvaged, or chop – chop as what they call, and then recycle through certain outlets and 9other recycling centers. Computing supplies such as printer cartridges, paper, and batteries could be recycled. Even teleconferencing and telepresence technologies are getting concerned also in this green computing initiative. There so many advantages with this, such as increase users’ satisfaction, reduction of emission of greenhouse gasses related in travel and transportation, and of course reduce cost in energy consumption.

In fighting global warming there are so many moves we could do. And as IT student, I could help to promote these steps and even apply it in my own way. Based on the studies, the main cause of global warming is the carbon dioxide released when the fossil fuels like coals, oils are then converted for energy. So the main idea for this is that when we save energy, we are fighting global warming.

Of course, the first step we must do is to educate ourselves bout global warming. The more facts we have, the more we could persuade and others in campaigning simple but effective change in our daily behavior and works. Energy – saving are initially expensive, such as solar energy utilization, and take extra time such as recycling, and more people need more convincing factor before participating in your campaign or believing your thoughts.

Cleaner cars and cleaner power plants would consume less energy. If we raise our voice for this, then we could help against global warming. My father is a driver, definitely he uses cars, every now and then, I have ask him bout the energy saving. I know if this concerned would be imposed also by the government then there would be a great change. Now my father is using an LPG, the time he is using this, his fuel consumption had lessen. He also get his engine tuned up and inflated, this help the fuel efficiently. But in my own, I don’t have car at this moment, and utilizing the public transit as my way of transportation, I know I had help save the energy. Public transportation could carry many passengers at the same time, which means the energy would be save if that so. Honestly, I don’t know how to ride a bicycle, and I get jealous for that. I really want to ride a bike so that I could use it in short distance travel, I could save money, then save energy. Even walking thru is a good step in fighting global warming; I could exercise, save money and the main point-save energy. We must practice green driving.^^

Even in terms of appliance utilization, we should use energy-efficient models of appliances, it is more expensive yet more energy – saving. My mom always told us no to use appliances if not necessary, with this we could save bill and reduce pollution produced by the power plant just for our current consumption. Replacing our electronics and appliance with energy-efficient ones such as stoves, refrigerators, washers and dryers and air- conditioners has massive energy consumption. Lessening our electric usage by turning off the lights or appliance in the rooms where in no one is present is one of the simple steps. I had heard from the advertisements also that unplugging the appliance would lesson the energy consumption. It was said that when our appliances are then plug, even turned off, it still uses a percentage of energy. Even replacing our light bulbs into compact fluorescent bulbs is a good strategy. It’s has wider scope of light, and then lasts 10 times as long. In our house, we are using that fluorescent bulb, and as I noticed we have lower energy bill than the past that we use incandescent light bulbs. If we use it in our home or even in our work place, then definitely- save energy. We must ensure that we are utilizing an ‘eco- friendly’ product; these are environment and globally safe cleaning products. These are commonly called also as ‘green product’ because they are safe for environment.

Even installing a water saving showers and faucets could utilize the low- flow system allows us to save about half amount of water, and ensuring that there is no leaks in our water supply would be helpful. Keeping water reservation it can benefit the environment and we could greatly turn down the hot water heater temperature.^^

Let’s switch also our eating habit in to organic food products. These products are healthier for human consumptions. These are products are eggs, milks, meat, fruits, sea foods, fishes, fruits and vegetables and breads. There so many selections to choose from, this switch would also be a message to the corporate farms who utilize non-friendly environment safe practices to produce foods. However it is more preferable to be vegetarian or mainly eat vegan meals. Livestock are responsible for, ore greenhouse gas emissions than transportation, this is because of the large amount of petroleum used in creating ammonium nitrate fertilizers and the shipping of foods for the cattle and shipment from slaughters to the grocery, think how these to much consume fuel for transportation. If we tend to eat meat, then it is preferable that it is local product. Vegetarian foods reduce agricultural water consumption and even land use, and it really promotes good health. We could even plant and make a veggie garden in our backyard anyway.

Even in washing our clothes, it is better if we would laundry it in warm water rather than in hot water, and take it in launder in bigger loads instead of smaller one. Simple things in our daily chores yet would help saving energy.

Ensuring that our home is well ventilated could help reduce our energy consumption. Placing ornamental plants and making even small gardens in our backyard gives us refreshing environment. With this, we would not demand an air-conditioned room just to refresh us. Just a simple way, it could help also lead us to go ‘green’. On of the problem in result in global warming is the cut down of trees, logging the forest, and slashing and burning farming – with this, planting trees would be helpful. Cutting trees would add more carbon dioxide at the atmosphere since trees absorb carbon dioxide. So with this, let’s plant more trees and shades our home naturally. Plants like bamboos grow faster and produce more oxygen than trees, and it just require fewer chemicals and care.

I had read an article regarding renewable energy usage in energy consumption. There are states in the US wherein they could choose there energy supplier. With this, they could choose those companies who generate energy from wind, solar energy and other clean sources. Her in our country, specifically here in Davao, we just have one company power supplier and that is the Davao Light, but then, its nice if there would be a company that would be build that using renewable energy. We may make some voice for it.

Engaging with the environment- driven club or group could drive us also to stay ‘green’, environment friendly and help fight against pollution. With our participation we could learn more in environment conservation and we could apply it in our own and even widespread that campaign.

Learning to recycle is one of the initiatives of the government nowadays, and we could do that with our own, recycling paper, plastics, glass products, and metals into a new face of product would be really helpful, and dramatically cut down on the pollutant gasses that are emitted in landfills. Even buying products that are made by recycled materials is nice initiative.

See guys, reducing carbon and greenhouse gas emissions will not only make our living space suitable, but also will save our money in both short and long term. As was then asked my self, if thru the change in environment causes global warming, is there possibility of global cooling.?

Anyway, there are so many ways that we can do evening our own simple way.. but focusing as an IT student, means we are more on fighting against global warming with my awareness regarding electronic matters.

_. We must use recycled papers. Just as me, nowadays, about an average of 20 pages a day is printed just for my academics. It is because of research matters and other subjects. As a result bulks of scratch papers are stored in my table. Honestly, it made me regret if I just throw it away, the back portion is clean and neat, it could be used for my drafts. I just make it all as scratch paper if I tend to use fully it up.
_. use refills. We must use refills than buying new one. This reduces our consumption and it usually cheaper too.
_. hibernate the computer if it is leaved for a moment.
_. turn-off the monitor is it not necessary to use. I mostly do this on my computer. I told my papa and sister also regarding this matter that is why they apply also whenever they use my computer. I tend to use my computer, and then leave it if I want to make some rest for a moment, however, I’m fond of listening my playlist that it why I tend not to hibernate it. With this, I just turn-off the monitor, coz I know for certain that we could save energy if I’ll do it so.

Trying to get handle with our energy consumption would make us save the energy. Turn- off the computer if necessary, and then unplug it after.

They said that future technology would solve the climate change caused by the global warming. Nanotechnology would b the key in solving world’s energy crisis. They predict that nanotechnology will enable global energy needs to be completely met by the renewable sources such as solar energy, doing away from our traditional dependency in fossil fuel. Nanotechnology is said to be the business of information process to create new amazing devices at the molecular level, and they study to use it to improve solar panel technology, and will help to produce an accelerating rate of return over the next few years or decades. The use of solar energy would be less expensive than fossil fuel in almost all situations. The cost of solar energy is cutting down and the development of the solar production is inclining exponentially. It is believes that global warming is caused by humans; the futurist also expects that humans have the key to solving the problems it presents. "Part of it appears to be caused by humans but we're going to be able - I believe we will in 20 years - to completely replace fossil fuels with renewable energy. Solar can do it by itself - there are other promising ideas like geothermal and I believe that will happen because of exponential growth in nanotechnology," he said. About 10,000 times more sunlight we need and we only need to capture one 10,000th of the sunlight that falls on the earth - we don't have to do it very efficiently but it is needed to be done inexpensively but the sooner cost would cut down.

Yeah, there are predictions that future technology would solve our problem regarding global warming, yet should we wait fro it.? We could make some move against global warming, without waiting the future technology and utilizing the present one. We have part in ourselves in helping to thin the ozone layer as we didn’t know for a long time that the chemicals in some of our household products were destroying our ozone layer. Now that we have knowledge with this concern, then now we could be part of the solution to protect our Earth’s fragile shield. . Let us all remember tat a single CFC (ChloroFloro Carbon) molecule can destroy 100,000 ozone molecules.

Trust is the key element in ecommerce, both in traditional models and more especially in e-commerce which is done electronically. Trust is a concept wherein common people understands, however most people get troubled on the specific definition of this concept. And just the way, we consider trust issues; individuals with different roles have different understanding on trust which is based on the specific goals or priorities of the individual. Trust is truly hard to see on the other’s point of view. If we go to the store or site wherein we patronized for about a year, then we definitely built a high level of trust on handling money and information exchange or goods or any services. But then merchants’ approach in the certain transaction would be different on your ability to pay that is why we must be associated with credible ownership of card or any means. With this, trust differs to different people, wit different roles and scenarios. Of course, trust greatly plays an important role in every transaction. When we enter on the transaction, then we are about to participate, and a decision to complete or cancel the transaction we have created.

Trust definitely belongs in ecommerce issue; and the judgment is base on the users experience as a customer and perception on a particular merchant involved. In every transaction, both participants – buyers and sellers must have a decision on trusting each company, sometime sis conscious or it may not be conscious, it just depends on our belief and instinct. But then, in general many people don’t trust the merchant that much, that is they need to assemble positive feedbacks before deciding to trust the merchants. I would be glad also if they are categorized already for me to easily browse what interests me. If the designer or the owner of that site could make that navigation feature in a smooth way, then why should I trust that site, right? With me, sites with easy access on the functionality they have offered make good points. I could search, browse and purchase on the site, not depending on the specific browser configuration, then it would encourage me to have transaction with them.

One thing that necessary when we are over the net is the security and privacy, and then with that, sites must address this concern. Definitely users would ask for there policy or any answer with this matter in personal way, and not form automatic or answer bot. User’s must have this communication more especially the bothersome of the users after the merchants would get the money. That is why, most users ask there friends or find any customers who have transacted with them then find out if the transactions are done correctly.

Even the price of the product varies the trust of the customers. How the price realistic would greatly impact to the users. With observation, I could say most of the online services or products are moiré cheaper than when we buy on the traditional means, with this I tend to be amaze and ask oneself if this is true. One example is the plane booking, if we tend to book online, we could have choices, and we could choose with low price, and as noticed, about 10 percent could just be paid than on the traditional transaction, this really doubt us, but then, this is reality. The participants must build trust or else there are no transactions or commerce that would happen, no matter how convenient the world involve in technology.

That is why we could say that one important thing in e-commerce is the trust- users would not complete transaction on the certain site if they don’t trust it fully. This aspect focus on how seller trusts there customers. But in our case, which is customers, we are more focused in how we trust the sellers or the site we are dealing with. There are so many researches made dealing with this aspect, however, with the rapid involvement of the people in online business, transactions and events, and then e-commerce seems to be usual in today. I have read a study of Stephen Marsh et al regarding putting the trust in eCommerce, he more focus on how much the consumers trust online stores and suppliers, and what should be done to facilitate this issue. Searching over the web, there so many issues regarding electronic commerce – and one of the main issues is the taxation of e-commerce. It truly a challenge to the legislative body to control both concerning the government and the consumers, whether its citizens or form other countries because of its nature. We all know the basic fact that ecommerce involves any transaction over the net or any digital means. And because of the fact that it engages in internet communication, then transactions are merely in immediate access and transfers and definitely largely unknown - any transfer of goods or mails or any transactions are done electronically.

The government had articulated the issue about collecting taxes. Of course, we can’t deny the fact that today, in our every move, in the every goods we bought, even how little it is - the government is charging a tax for they so called- betterment of the infrastructures and other projects of the country. That is why even the transactions over the internet cannot rid or escape from this issue. Business over the internet had been rampant, not only for the countrymen customers but also open to different states and counties. But then, we know also that taxation involves jurisdiction, it must be in authority. Goods that landed on our abroad into our country relies on what we so called international taxations. With this the government based the tax on the territory and authority. Haiz how sophisticated the taxation is. There so many factors to be considered in amending tax - territory, citizenship and residency, and also with authority. There so many factors to be considered, that is why it is complicated when we are dealing with tax itself. How more the tax in e-commerce…

With the nature of internet, business can move and round over the world escaping from possible taxations. They apply of what they so called tax haven. We know what’s tax haven is about right? Take some brief explanation bout it. Tax haven is the country or region where taxes are low, some countries doesn’t issue taxes from foreign investors because of the fact that they are the one benefiting from it. Anyway, enough from that. Some business performs business out of the tax jurisdiction of the country. And because of the speed of transfers and any transactions over the internet then it is difficult to track any move trails more especially if the properties are intangible. Then with this, definitely if the government is relying greatly on the income tax then there would be in difficulty if then applied in e-commerce – I doubt if they could control it. There so many taxpayers doesn’t tell there exact income and trying to escape on the tax, more if the taxation involvement is done electronically. I really doubt if the citizens will favor to tax themselves in there internet transactions. But then I know there are some out there that would favor this taxation, more especially the retailers in there physical locations who are calling for fair competitive reasons.

Business over the internet is so vague. Some of the transactions are done electronically without paper trail, anonymous transactions, lack of information, and the sophisticated concept of taxable and non-taxable items or services. Watta sense.! With this few example of vagueness of data, even delivered and done in same carrier, it would be difficult to trace that there is an e-commerce transaction occurred. One of the popular transactions over the net is downloading software or music – there so many possibilities to make it as intangible property. Even the use of electronic money, we all know that if we use debit cards we could track the balance still we have but not exposing the bank and other info on it. With the use of it, the transaction would be anonymous, and with that concept it would really be exasperating for the government to make tax on it. Even if we uses cash in paying, just for example if someone download software then send it to you electronically such as with the means of email, even you pay it in cash then, it is still difficult to determine that transaction as part of the taxation of ecommerce.

Through search the net, I had found the Republic Act 8792 which provide the recognition and use of electronic commercial and non-commercial transactions, penalties for unlawful; use thereof, and other purposes is one of the law approved by the legislative body in the Philippines. The act had been known and cited as ‘Electronic Commerce Act’. It had been believed by many that the law is intended to recognize the essential role of information and communication technology in the development of the country; it recognizes the authenticity, a valuable and reliable ICT products and services contributing investments in ICT; development of programs and policy changes for an appropriate use of electronics and computers; promotion of technology; and the organization of communication networks with an appropriate and legal framework and systems. The Ecommerce law act 8792 is intent to facilitate the transactions, contracts, agreements and any information exchange, domestically and internationally; as well as the promotion of universal utilization of electronic transaction in the government and by the general public. And in terms of the coverage, this law is to apply to any kind of electronic data message and electronic document used in the context of commercial and non-commercial activities.

With this is Ecommerce Act, there was made an existence of the issue that agitates the many Filipino citizens. Reading from a simple forum with the topic entitled ‘enforcement and monitoring of electronic commerce’ it highlighted the issue about BIR’s policy direction on ecommerce. The government, specifically the BIR had not been yet pronouncing specifications bout the taxation of electronic commerce. There are under study of the existing law of taxation and how it would be effectively applied in E-commerce. It is not surprising that in consideration of Republic Act 8792 or the Electronic Commerce Act, there are legislators who would bring up the issue of taxation. If you would read the entire the Act, definitely there would be no issue involving the taxation matter but instead solely on the legal recognition and communication of the electronic transactions from electronic data messages and electronic documents; electronic commerce in carriage of goods such as contracts and other transport documentations; the electronic transactions in government which entails the government of usage and promotion of electronic data messages, documents and signatures; and the final provision such as the extent of liability of a service providers, lawful access, obligations of confidentiality, penalties, and many more to mention. Examining the said E-commerce act, there’s no chance of taxation issue involved. This is because the legislators thought that this taxation in eCommerce doesn’t fit yet and fully evolve in our country, Philippines. I guess, if the eCommerce would be vastly disturb the economy and the interest of the government then the sooner it is, there would be a plan to making a bill for this concern.

However, the BIR is now so far making a policy directions in relate with the ecommerce law and electronic transactions. The tax policy is just provisionary up to this point. The taxation were supposes to be impose more than the ecommerce businesses and transactions that had been imposed in the same commotion done in usual means. Thus, all the guiding principles that had been applied in taxation in conventional means are then samely as guiding principles in taxation in electronic commerce transactions. Honestly, I doubt this.! The BIR had a great view that E-commerce has great potential in raising revenues and tax collections, and could deliver improved taxpayers services. But in my point of view, this really a far from the possibility because of the vagueness of transactions if done electronically. In addition with the policy, BIR will cut back its role in providing financial environment within which Ecommerce may ensure that business transactions are associated in consideration of economic aspects rather with tax concerns. And the tax for ecommerce transactions should have a high international acceptance, but there would be a balance between the Philippines and its counterpart countries for it to avoid double taxation.

As of now there BIR didn’t issued a regulations yet in regard with ecommerce law. I could sense that the government, specifically the BIR would be in difficulty in managing and enforcing the relevant provisions in respect of electronic commerce due to the fact that, there is no fix and clear guidelines for the understanding of this issue. ECommerce law (Republic Act 8792, Electronic Commerce Act of 2000) is still silent in the issue regarding the online earnings taxation and other related business transactions. Even how online earning had been part in of ecommerce transactions; hence it is not taxable at this time. Most of the people engage in internet had been part in this issue, even my own self. Blogging is one of the transactions offer over the internet, and adsense is one of the means that even typical student like me is could be involved and gain some earnings. A cents per click approach in the ads presented part in the page. Hmmh, as far as I remember bout the agreement, about 100 dollars earning then that’s the time they would release my earn, slash the tax I guess. Anyway, that’s because the transaction was authenticated and clear and it is under the US territory. However, there so many transactions done over the internet which cannot be traced and with this, they could have chance to escape form slashing out some percentage of there income for the taxation matter.

Here in the Philippines, there’s no resolution yet for the taxation in the ecommerce, but instead just in conventional means only. If you are generous to the government, there’s no one would prohibit you in declaring your online earnings as part of the taxable income. Yet, I really doubt bout this.! Money matters as of this time, even a small percentage of tax, it would create a noise in the public – more especially if it then so issued by the authority. Honestly on my part, this time it is not the right time to declare this taxation of ecommerce in our country, it is because there still no clear rules bout this and it is so difficult to trace these all. But then, if you really want to help more the country, then we are all open for the declaring it as our earnings. However if your just gaining some cents over the internet, it would be unclear if you have to declare it or not Haiz. But on the other hands, there are questions still goes round and round on my mind, what if a corporate or a company is solely making e-business or e-commerce, it is online investing right? Is it still under the corporate income tax? Haiz. Definitely this would be a big controversy and noisy in debate. And if someday, Philippines would make a law taxation law in ecommerce, and then they must be ready enough to handle this issue for fair commerce.

This policy is just like imagining the future- imagining the surprising and unclear future. I know it is really hard to be controlled by the government authority, unless the future would be tomorrow where there would be a development in electronic commerce which would control the transactions over the net, or could track the any transactions. With this it could provide reliability and even over the internet, no taxpayers could escape there responsibilities. Tax really became a major investment here in our country, and if this taxation issue in ecommerce would be amended in the future years, then definitively it would really help government, more especially we are now engaging in online business, and the trend is through the concept of e-business. Sooner or later, business and investments would be done electronically, that is why planning a good strategies and making a clear rule bout this would be advantage to the government preparing for the future massive involvement in ecommerce. However, I can’t really ever imagine how the authority could handle this issue. Goodluck.!

last meeting in our future technology subject., we share our future perspective in different area of technology. We present also our updates regarding our diorama presentation. Honestly, i was then kind a selfish. I didnt get involve in organizing and preparing for the pat technology diorama presentation. I was not thinking, all i thought is about the sked and the dividers. I never thought about the space. And with that, i could say, we didnt think... we just rely on ate pril's initiative and work. I'm confident that i exist because i have the initiative on our group's presentation, however as a whole i guess i didn't exist.

At that time, we shared, and at least some of us share some alternatives. Thanks with our considerate sir Gamby, he's willing to postpone our presentation for us to be well prepared. As of this moment, i quite felt bothered coz 'till now it wasn't approved yet. It is still in the hand of the dean in IC. But i know we could do it.! aja.! i am really looking forward in the January's presentation.. hoping so that the approval of letters would be done well soon.

hmmh., in relate with this.. i am hoping so also that my research would be in nice flow..^^ i am making consultation with my adviser already but not yet with sir val coz he's so busy. at least there is sir dan to advise me.^^ i am revising my questionnaires..^^ hoping it sooner it would be ready for validation.. and sir val would grant my request coz it had been 2 weeks already..

i know we all exist - or then we're in 6ft below the ground- but this philosophy just make us realize the real meaning of our 'existence'.

One of the innovations dealt by the genius scientists is the advancement of submarine technology. The bombing during Spanish Civil war came to view to the extreme power of bomber aircraft. In result, because of that fear in bombers, there was a huge development of aircraft technology. The air defense was well organized and equipped with radars that really helps for there survival; this lead for the German bombers to shot down, and leave the cities with minimal damage. American bomber planes had build as the only adequate long-range bomber in the world before the war. As through the course of war, there still many flaws discovered, with that they develop there poor navigation technology for targets into a more high-tech devices. Summing it up, the development of air defense technology was formed into its new face – fighter planes.

Weapons to mention – infantry, armour, naval weapons, glide bomb which is said to be the first smart bomb, missiles, fuses for shells and rockets, guided weapons by radio or trailing wires, torpedoes, machine guns, and other explosives had been crucially used and developed. Stamping, riveting, and welding methods were then improved to produce more arms needed. It developed its ways in design and advancement in manufacturing reliable equipments. After the war, the small guns were innovated into a more modern infantry weapons for the Cold war era. Atomic bomb- was then the also one of the highlights in the WW2. It was then brought by the massive research and development demand of the war. Soviet Union developed and tested the first nuclear weapon in 1949, and the conflict between Soviet Union and US lead to the Cold War.

Aircraft technology was then making a big boom in the war. German brought an operational jet fighter. Of course it is undeniable that aircraft made a broad development during the war, this is to meet the demand of aerial combat and lesson from the fails and experiences form operations; from cockpit airplane to sleek jet fighter. Amazing but truly destructive. ! It is quite astonishing the evolution of aircraft technology. Even today, aircrafts are mainly used not only for transportation but also in combat operations. Most of the aircrafts are utilized for military purposes. The World War 2 really leaves a mark even in the usage of this aircraft technology.

In the course of war, electronic instruments such as radar and sonar had been significant. Radio or receiver devices became an effective reality, creating a two-way communication. Any communication equipments that intercept communications had been used critically. Calculating flight trajectories and code-breaking projects emphasized that for the development of digital electronics, mainly the electronic computer technology. Of course, big countries such as United Kingdom and USA where the leader of making a massive development in electronics; Developed magnetron was the innovated and used now as microwave oven, and jamming - a deliberate radiation or reflection of electromagnetic energy for the purpose of disrupting enemy use of electronic devices or systems was then developed.

We are the one making things or concept of war to be happened, and to cope with the disaster that had been an effect of this event, a medical technology had been evolved. Penicillin – an antibiotics obtained was widely used in the treatment of various infections and bacterial diseases due from the wars. Definitely, medication is a necessity in combat operations.

There’s no question why World War 2 had made a big mark in history, not only the disasters and conflicts it had brought to the nations, but also to the development of technology, both in constructive applications such as medicines and communication and also, mainly in destructive technology such as weaponry. There are massive innovations in aircraft and naval technology yet still associated for the concept of war. Planes and jets are developed yet as bomb carriers and jet fighters. Low frequency and high frequency communication devices are advanced yet for the purpose of destruction, the use of radars and sonar to detect rivalries. With this event, I could say, people really change the technology because of POWER. They want the superiority over all nations. Haiz. I tend to remember a short statement I had read regarding the reinvention of technology that had been stated by stephen jay gould that the most important scientific revolution that we must develop is the dethronement of human arrogance about our centrality. If only people would understand that superiority doesn’t lead us to real victory and success. That greed of power just leads us to destructions and damages. Of course, we can’t expect of mainly creative applications if the issue war – most is for damages! Most.? As nation trying to conquer other nations with force, then the other side makes defensive strategies against destructions and invasions.

Haiz nakapanlulumo but then that’s the reality during the war and definitely after the war, many nation treasures, people, and even environment had been ruined. But then, many area of technology had been vastly developed to attain the demand in operations, even in destructive form, and as a result we are still the one making solutions to prohibit the disease and any damages that had been brought by it. Watta sense.! But then, war, mainly the World War 2 doesn’t leave us in doom. It is undeniable that it leads to fast innovations in more area of technology applications. Viewing the technology in present age, it is truly in high-tech from. More reliable functionality, portable, and fully equipped – but then, we tend to realize that intense development of such technologies involved was then developed during the World War 2. But then in my own point of view, even how intense the innovation deal with the demand of war, I still doesn’t want it the way or means for innovation. Graving for power and superiority doesn’t justify for the change in technology. I know there so many reasons and way for it, just as discussed in the previous assignment. Power - it’s in nature, yet thinking for the betterment of the common still the great approach.

With the beginning of high technological means of war, it gives us fear on the future war that maybe. If in World War 2 used atomic bombs already that affect massive amount of people and damage wide area of territory, how come the future is. Remembering the book of Dan Brown – ‘Angels and Demons’ – the existence of antimatter that’s in just a stored canister then exposed to matter creates an unimaginable explosion. The quest was really amazing, so with the advancement of technology. If there would be another war in the future, there would be more extensive explosives could be developed. Haiz. Hoping future wouldn’t be tomorrow.

Innovation – a new form of Technology!

Hmmh., in fact at this point I cant ever imagine my self as an IT professional – my skills are not yet fully developed, my knowledge is not that competitive enough to survive in the outside real world, and my creativity should still be enhanced; one thing I could have is just my imaginative mind and positive outlook in life that technology changes doesn’t lead to overwhelming risks but instead with constructive and creative applications.

In fact there so many technology that are environment motivated, I don’t know if this had already invented- and honestly I want to focus on recycling. We Filipino are hard-working as other country refers to however we can’t deny the fact that there is something inside ourselves of being ‘lazy’ even in simple thing- throwing our garbage, specifically segregating it. The government, more specifically here in Davao which I could potentially notice and relate to, have policies in segregating the garbage. That is why they intend a budget fund for the bins. It’s a nice move anyway, it could minimize our problem in terms of garbage disposal, and can avoid high level flood here in the city. Its good on us that papa taught us to leave the biodegradable in our compost pit, and the non-bio at the garbage plastic. However, there is still disobedient Davaoeños, they throw garbage in the bins yet still without segregation – watta sense.! I know it really coz I could observe it every time I throw our plastic bag at the bin. With this point, if I would have an amazing mind and innovative hand to be an expert I want to address this issue.

A garbage separator. Hmmh., just an imagination anyway - if only there would be a machine technology where in have a task or function to segregate the garbage from bio and non-biodegradable. By that, people would just throw the garbage at the storage bin then the machine would work it task- identify the biodegradable and non-bio, then segregate plastics, tin/ aluminum cans, Styrofoam, rubber, glasses, etc. Of course, it could be done because of the feature of the machine to define the substance component of the garbage then segregate it accordingly. Even with the biodegradable things, it could define whether it is a paper or not. If then, it would be segregated, so that papers would still be recycled also. This process would be easy to make a recycle process because it had been segregated already. Wew.! That’s really a nice thing. The biodegradable would be gathered and converted into organic fertilizers or back to the ground. Then the non-bio would be ready for the recycle factories. Imagine the garbage would be recycled all in all. NO MORE SMOKEY MOUNTAIN.! The environment would be clean, no high level floods, and the need of raw materials would be minimized because of the aspect - recycling. Nice thing to imagine that way, no more high pressures for those who are stubborn and disobedient. I know this is not that complicated thing compared with there research of applying emotion to the robots, and I guess someday out there, there would be an expert who could imagine this thing also and make some invention.

Improved solar cars intended for transportation. Solar energy had been use in calculator – I know this coz we have calculator that was sole solar energy dependent. I wonder if this concept would be applied also in car machine’s battery. I had seen the battery of a car, and it was sophisticated than on the normal battery that we have in our house. However, I wonder if there is a chance of applying solar battery to run a car. So that it could at least lessen the consumption of fuel. At night, then that’s the only time we use gas/fuel or still battery – an improvised battery. I don’t know how to merge that concept coz I don’t know even how the calculator works out with the use of solar battery. But then I guess that would be a nice innovation. We are utilizing the raw material for free – the light. I wonder if there would be an effect in speed, if it would slow the speed or any side effects.

I search about solar car, then, I had recognized that it was not practical means for transportation; they have single seat, no cargo capacity, and then it only run during day. I browse some pictures on it. It was not like an ordinary car – the top portion has something a wide board, maybe to catch the sunlight. The car was not made practically for transportation really. They get there fuel at the same place – the sun. The cars use hundreds of photovoltaic cells to convert sunlight into electricity. Each cell produces about one-half volt of electricity. However, there is a conflict when the weather is cloudy if the energy is focused in driving, if then still a conflict in the speed if the energy is diverted to the battery. No wonder that there are studies about the solar car, coz it is so amazing technology. But I guess this needs some further innovation. I don’t know how to make it. Why not there would be a technology where in it could balance the two. There would be a machine – honestly at this point, don’t really know what’s within that machine hehe– to gather light and convert to necessary means, it would directly converted into electricity if light is sufficient enough and part of it would be diverted to battery, so that it would be used still even the weather is not that good. Of course this machine would be not bulky as today’s used - just a simpler machine that could gather much sunlight even in its small size. In a simpler way to say- a 2-in-1 machine, could generate electricity as car’s fuel for it to run and diverted to battery for future use. It could detect if the energy are low already then It would activate the use of fossil fuel if necessary. I guess if more research would be made then; there would be a solution for any concern. With this technology, I guess Philippines would not be in oil crisis, and many drivers such as my father would benefit a lot. The most exciting part of using solar power as an energy source is that it is pollution free and inexhaustible, such an environment-friendly technology. If research continues, one day solar energy may replace today's combustion engine cars! And ready for transportation purposes. There’s no need for fuel but it could run solely with the aide of solar energy.

Anyway there so many technologies we could imagine, it is just with our creative minds. Hoping so that if we would like to introduce some technology then, it would be for the common good. More especially dealing in environment coz it’s the one mainly affected. Global warming – the most intriguing one to mention. I know my technology were directly concern to my family and community. Yet I know this could really help the other also to improve the way of living. There are so many existing technologies, just an innovation, and synthesizing concepts to create another form of technology that would be helpful for the betterment of our life.

Imagining the Future

The wired self – nice concept caused by technology, we tend to communicate with the others even with our own. Information is everywhere, and we can’t deny the fact, we are living in virtual community. We are lost in cyberspace-as well as we are connected in it. There is a fast changing of technology development and far-reaching in a sense that the human existence was irreversibly altered. We combine our brain power- knowledge, skills, personality- to the machine power in order to think, communicate, behave and create in a way that we can scarcely even contemplate today. Some amazed about the nice thing caused by high technology, but then some are dreadful to loose the culture and face possible risks –wars and most especially spoiling the environment.

Imagining the future.? Surely, millions of machine intelligence would be developed, more effective strategies of education and business models would be implemented, almost no distinction between biological and non-biological intelligence, and in physical and virtual reality. One thing also is that our environment would be affected- that’s the worse thing to happen.

Am I bothered.? Kinda. If only people would think for the better, considering the balance in having high technology without compromising our environment. If only people would change technology for the common good, and not for personal interests. If only people would have contentment and just friendly competition with the others. If only- then I wouldn’t be bothered. I love romanticizing the way the world is in peace and in its green and refreshing aura with technology still, but I know it wouldn’t be. Hoping so that future wouldn’t be tomorrow.

Twilight

This had been a long time of waiting…

That was about last month when we saw the poster of twilight, rumors are there-something in connection of harry potter, plus the existence of Robert pattinson as the lead cast, these excites me to watch the movie. I searched far to have some copy of 4 books of twilight saga, thanks with my friends they have. The book is so childish yet with ‘kilig’ factor-it only stresses that the author is young enough to compose stories. With my attachment with it, I read her page where she said it all started with a dream ‘til drafted, polished then published. Then I heard from my dearest friend the leak of a book- ‘midnight sun’ which said to be Edward’s perspective version of twilight. I can’t dare to miss it, so then I read the rough draft even it just happened that it’s not yet finished... ‘so bitin hehe’ With my reading there’s so many revelations in the part of Edward’s feelings, more romantic – I don’t know if that’s the right term.

Days before watching, I heard criticisms and reviews of twilight, so then I never had expectations that much for it, as usual book would be more interesting than movie because of the details. In fairness… I love it.!

Kristen portrays really good in Bella’s character. I love her hair and the way her clumsiness, her hyperventilation every time she’s with Edward, her fearlessness attitude, I love her guts and the way she use it. Even with Robert Pattinson as Edward, he’s so awesome – his perfect gorgeousness, his amazing skills of a vampire, his being protective and obsess of Bella’s blood and mainly love. But then, the most standing character is Alice- I love her beauty, so innocent and peaceful, I can’t forget when she cheats Bella’s smell of blood, I was surprised for it, I love also the way she moves, she’s like dancing a ballet in her every steps, and the sweetness she is with Jasper. Speaking of Jasper, I always get laugh with him, he’s uncontrollable attitude whenever he smell’s human scent was so crazy, his reaction definitely no one would be more astounding hehehe. In fairness Alice-Jasper’s tandem is the best in the movie, I love there sweetness, it made me jealous. Rosalie and Emmet’s affair is quite so so, maybe because I don’t like Rosalie’s attitude even with her astonishing beauty. I love the Cullens, Dr. Charlisle and Esme, despite the fact of there vampire in nature, they try themselves to remain good and make good. With love and motivation to be a better person, even being monster could live life with bliss.

There so many part of the movie that stands out – when Bella and Robert are together going to school-that’s the time when Edward became Bella’s boyfriend already; the prom; the baseball play in thunder; the scene when Edward whispered ‘perfect’ to Bella’s beauty in front of Charlie- I tend to laugh in that part; Cullens at the cafeteria; the piano; and most especially the ‘confessions’. I really love the setting, it so appealing and amazing-the woods, the falls, the meadow, the overviews – I love it.!

Twilight, the safest time of the day for both Edward and Bella. The easiest time. But the saddest, in a way... the end of another day, the return of the night, and the predicatable darkness...

Technology had been a great impact in the human existence. Many experts develop technology for a vast of reasons and goals. The use of technology had been usual in our daily life these days, the phone, computer, internet – few to mention. It had been a direct consequence of the fast emerging of science and engineering in this physical world. Technology is associated for the improvement and development of sectors, therefore we tend to use technology to improve and make of change of our lifestyles. Entertainments, education, information, were few of the sectors why we tend to use technology, for its accuracy, effectiveness, ease of use and many more.

The fast trend of technology had influenced us. The human brain with there creative hands which dealt to innovation lead us to be more attached with technology. Since competition and unsatisfaction of needs and wants had been human nature, then people tend to change and continue the technology revolution to cope up the demand of humanity. That is why as we could observe, there are more complicated researches that experts are studying.

…then all were suddenly stunned.!

The day started in fine, since the reporting was postponed to 1pm, then I have enough time to prepare my presentation and fix my self well. I went to school around 12nn just to ensure that I wouldn’t be late. I found myself there with the chitchats of a group as far as sir gamby is not yet around.

Time passes by and 1pm approaches, sir gamby came just as intended. And the class potentially must be started. Just as usual, time was killed by the transfers of files from numerous usb to pc. The class wouldn’t be said class without words coming from him. Naturally, a sermon – we all deserved it coz were so stubborn.

I was stunned when he started his sermon, not because I always felt bad every time someone would scold me, but what mostly tend me to be frightened is with his high pitch voice. He always reminded us that we’re old enough for over repeating advices and policies – wearing civilian at regular schooldays is an immortal sin. I know with my self that I always try to do good. I was quietly got offended when he mentioned our family. Is that the way you do when you’re at home.? I know it’s our fault, and honestly I found it below the belt to question my attitude at home – it’s just like questioning how mama and papa manage my behavior if I’m with them.

It made me cry when my classmates started to be questioned – I know my self, I’m always iyakin; after his sermon, how would we view our future.? How do we get here.? I really felt bad about it coz sir gamby was so serious in his threat – I don’t know if that’s the exact term for it. If I would be then asked about it, I would doubt a clear vision of graduation this march 2009. His words upset me, honestly. How do I get here.? I hate that question really; it seems that one mistake judges my entire life of being. Honestly I always try to be good. I always consider life has chapters of lessons to be learned. But sometimes I got stubborn, I’m a cheater – I break his law as far as he couldn’t catch me, even though I know for certain that no cheater could pass him by. I admit that and I tolerate it coz he never punished me for that manner. A “wake-up call” as what they repeatedly refer to. Its bad and I should realize that it’s really bad.

I felt bad and would like to ask him sorry. Pretty sure, he would just reject my sorry, it useless coz I certainly know what he wants - change. Honestly, I’m always found myself organized. I list a sked of tasks just to make things well. I don’t like late comers, I don’t like lazy people, I don’t like irresponsible, I don’t like people who are not motivated with there works, and I don’t like people who are selfish – just trying to live life liberally without considering there family. I often lead the group, push everybody to move and finish our works. With that, I hate myself… With a one whole class, I don’t have that authority to lead, to have an initiative to make file transfer before time so that we get ready, and so I just leave it, anyway I don’t like that responsibility.

I hate my self for it. Time got wasted, sir got angry, and (we) I got scolded – I really felt bad for it… really. He had been not strange on me anymore, he’d been my father at school, reminding for what’s best for me. I felt bad for it; I’m one of those who change his mood.! I cant take that sermon would be repeated. There presentation was well delivered, hope so, our reporting would be appreciated also.

Future Tech Proposal: ‘Virtual Chat’

Future technology seems to be an exciting course subject of IT and CS. It evaluates how students foresee the future’s technology development. As part of this, we are determined to present a nice future technology concept to our colleague schoolmates and other guests.

At first, it is challenging on our part coz in the first place, we are originally four in the group, and this requires only three members per group. Late then, Mark decided to merge with the group of his ‘best friend – Tello’, jejeje, so this just means ‘a girls power’! Ever since the future tech group was founded, we have start imagining future technologies, until the group decided to propose a virtual chat.

Virtual reality exists nowadays, some researches applied it as aide in schizophrenia – a psychotic disorder, some also intents to apply it in recreational paradise, in fact, and there so many researches proposes a good application of virtual reality. That is why our group comes to the point of applying the virtual reality concept in the famous doing of every net surfer - chatting. If before, it is just plain text with no friendly interface, chat in today’s setting is with the aide of speakers, audio and even video, allows photo sharing and many more. Evaluating this development, it is not impossible to come to the point of application of virtual technology in the environment of chatting.

In fact, there so many nice present technologies available, thus future technology is just in our hand, waiting to be imagined, discovered and open for innovation. I know we don’t yet reach the limit, so there are still many surprises waiting for our creative minds to open and reveal it.

One Fine Sem Break.!

Despite on the fact of disgusting finals, I never expect to have this sem break even for just few days. To cope up, I sleep over; drink enough water as I could; just relax, listen to the music, watch movies with my family; read pocketbook – anyway, I just read 1 book entitled ‘the partner’ by John Gresham; chitchat my family. Such a nice sem break to be treasured.

One of my accomplishments is that for the whole break, I am the one responsible in the kitchen. I’m so proud of myself that I cook, even with mama on my side dictating what I should do next (hehe at least, it’s nice to experience that thing, rather than just watch and learn). Mama always secure that if not fish, then veggies dishes are prepared - not that bad. I am assigned to wash dishes, water the plants, sweep the floor, just a normal chores, yet really missing. I miss to help mama in the household chores just as the way I do when we were young. We tend to cheer for Ronna’s activity also. My li’l sis was then joined the division contest in journalism, specifically news broadcasting held in Kapitan Thomas Monteverde Sr. Elem School. I’m so proud of her, she’s active in there campus buzz, unlike me who really not fond of writing or any form of journalism.

I tend to have a part time work this sem (sana), yet sir rowen said that I’ll work every Saturday if its just okay on my part. Its nice deal, I could also leave my task if I’m totally busy. Nice thing that they want me to be prepared in work experience considering my status as a student also. Even mama and papa were so supportive with my decision to take this, I know I could handle this; it’s not that hard thing to manage.

PhilNITS Exam

Philippine National IT Standards Foundation, Inc., or PhilNITS, is a non-stock, non-profit, non-government organization that is implementing in the Philippines The IT standards adopted form Japan, with the support of DIT, Ministry of Economy, and METI of Japan.

I'm thankful that I had given an opportunity to participate in this exam. I don't have a review session that is why its hard on my part to pursue this. Thanks to my family that there's so supportive, they take concern on how would I facilitate this one. To think I just review for about 2 weeks I guess, that is why I can't even have that guts to say that I could pass this (not as an excuse coz its merely a fact). The preparation week was so busy and I tend not to manage to have review with my own (how pity). I just read the AM exam and about just a half on the PM exam, anyway its just an analysis that matter.^^

The exam was held in UIC-Bonifacio, October 19, 2008 here in Davao region. This was a real weird day. About 6am I have an activity with my scholarship, and I can't help myself to leave it just with an excuse, that is why even though the PhilNITS exam is 9am, I tried to take balance t hat I could participate with the scholarship activity. What's one really fun about this event is that, papa made a sketch in UIC-Bonifacio, concerning that I would be lost.. hehehe(taga.Davao jud ko.)

The exam was quite hard.. no.! It's really hard. Hehe I can' help to reminisce my doings during the exam. I had calculated some problems then the answer was not in the option..^^.. watta.! Some part was hmmmh.. so so.. coz I had encountered it on my previous studies, but most of it was really unusual, most especially on my part where I just have self study compare with my other group mates. Anyway, the day was ended. What a nice experience, I'm not expecting to pass, coz taking this as an experience was already a fulfillment.

Anyway, what does success really mean?. I guess, one could define it when he encountered failure, and strived to get better.

I don’t really know if success fits on my situation, yet what I really feel ‘bout now is happiness, and guts to spend this day with a great celebration. It’s already late at night yet many ICeans are still in the ground floor, making consultations and submission of projects with there professors. Number of students are slowly diminishing as time passes, and we’re still at the corner waiting for our turn… anyway, waiting with sir val’s appointment, for the acceptance test in SE project(Memo Dissemination System). I tend to reminisce how sir Cagape help us to cope up with our problems in our system, and sir Canda considers us in printing our certification...hehe There so sweet. That time I could say, even how hard our professors in our subjects, they still have warm heart to help us and considers our crazy attitudes jejeje.

Sir Val is not easy to deal with; he has high standards even in making a system or program. That was passed 7 when he arrived to have an acceptance test with our group. I felt bad every time he releases words from his mouth, and I hate the way he says, “unsa man na woie”, “nganu man na woie”, “wla koy ghimo ha”, “sus oie”, “dapat man dili ana”, “cge daw beh cge daw.!” Hehe that’s is why I do my best so that next time we make consultation with him, at least it would minimize…hehehe Spending time with our profs and dean is worth to be treasured. I’m so happy for this day coz sir val accepted our system and for my barkada with there datacom.

This deserves a celebration. Papa bought us just a 1.7L of my mom’s fave flavored ice cream, jejeje just a simple celebration with my family on the job well done. Mama and papa knew how hard am I working to cope up with my subjects, and I’m so happy that they are more glad for me. I didn’t ever encounter to have a failed grade that is why I guess I am more pressured on how my family and friends would react if I would fail. Red mark is usual in IC, yet I don’t have planned to have a year extension. Hehehe I really thank GOD coz HE is always there for me, my family, mama and papa, my friends esp the killererZ and my ever considerate professors. I love u all… At least now, may nakikita akong future hehehe.

It had been a week already when I made my last blog entry; I didn’t make any post but it doesn’t mean that its dull and nothing’s unusual. HECTIC SKED.! I guess that’s the right and direct term to define it.

Just reminiscing the last week: I had lost my voice because of flu, it’s so hard on my part coz there so many school works to accomplish, yet my sick triggers me to get sleepy and be inactive. Haiz nakakapagod… I didn’t imagine how I had survived that week. That was Wednesday I guess, when we slept over on my classmate’s house for our simulation project, make an update on our SE project (memo dissemination system) which was so pressured because sir val handles the acceptance test approval, review preparation for the IT quiz (yet hindi natuloy), rush an appointment with the Regional Manager of our adopted company to present our system proposal for the completion of requirements in SAD, revisions on my research proposal document, make my own FOSS perspective composition, and have time to assist my friends in there project system. Haiz watta bz week.

Anyway, considering my last consultation with sir gamboa in my research proposal was quite.. so so.. hehehe.. i had so many things to revise, im glad that i got 60% with my first consultation, and i'm aiming that for about 90% and above next.. hahaha.! watta.. joke lng.. heheh honestly, im hoping that it would be closely completed on my next consultation.. haiz.. it had been 3 days already when i tend to went school just for a consultation, hoping this Monday, i would be entertained..I'm not that confident with my schematic diagram, hoping so it was the right one.

I’m so thankful that despite the fact that I just have short time with my family, mama and papa were so supportive and considerate. That ‘busy days’ was not yet the end but instead just a nice start. Honestly I tend to get jealous with my friends coz they are planning already to have a part time job this sem break. I know I can’t handle it if I’ll join with there plan coz I would spend my time to have a review for the philnits exam. Haiz wattever.!

All I want this break, specifically oct20, is to spend my whole time just to have a sweet rest to rejuvenate myself. ^^

wahehe.. our review for ITquiz.. was really fun.. at first i was so nervous coz i dont know how to handle 120 questions out of 15 mins... wah.! gosh.!

yet as the quiz goes on.. i tend to realyz that i cannot really accomplish it all.. vle's page response time was so slow.. even me, the way i answer it.. hehehe...whats really fun with it was that, some of my answers was incorrect., and i dont know if i have to get sad or get laugh on myself..! hahaha.!

think of it, i just answered 3 pages out of 12 pages.. gosh.! and theres so many items leaved.. i could say., i dont have any guts to make another attempt to retake the test.. instead i just downloaded it for me to review with my own... jejeje...

nice try anyway.. if i should review and read more., i know i can do it better... weeeh.! on the next time.!

Software Freedom Day ‘08

“Empowering all people to freely connect, create, and share in a digital world that is participatory, transparent, and sustainable”

This event is world-widely celebrated to dedicate the advocacy of free and open source software. Here in Davao region, UM-Matina Campus became the host for this year event. The gathering was participated by different schools in Region, naming ADDU, UM, USeP, UP-Min were few to mention. The event has been successful with the partnership of PSITE and CDITE. The speakers bring out the importance of FOSS in our community. There are few FOSS projects and applications had been introduced to the audience, such as Ruby on Rails, Morph AppSpace, Morph AppCloud, GIMP, Mozilla programming Framework, and Blender.

Software Freedom Day became lively with the interactions of the participants. One of the most controversial part when Kevin, a high school student speaker, share about the Free open weblog, the “wordpress”. I could vibe his feeling of being isolated because “bloggers” dominated in the area. However, he presented the side of wordpress that made some of the audience appreciate it. Yet with my own perception, I guess he must be open-minded in presenting facts to the public. What I saw about him is that he became one-sided in favor of “wordpress”, criticizing the “Blogger”. Haiz anyway, end of that controversy. The audience became vibrant on the last part when Marlo Noval, a college stud speaker, presents a short film “the Big Buck Bunny” that was made from Blender. The story was really fun, made you amaze that Blender-a FOSS could bring out this successful short film.

“Build it, Share it, Live it.!” A short phrase yet, has a big impact in FOSS. Free and open source software’s role in this community is not limited for us to freely use this available technology but also has been open for us to participate. We build software to share and live with it. I know, some of us would say, we are not yet capable enough of developing software, but the concept here is for us to develop our innovativeness with the aide of available software, and to give back this solution to the FOSS community where we belong.

Making an expected output is quite confusing on my part coz I don’t know if what this is really all about… if whether this deals with the output of my study or the output of my proposal? Quite confusing right? Hehehe
Anyway that's why I made some revisions in my objectives.. I don’t know where of them should I consider… on my previous consultation with sir, that deals with the effect or output when the FOSS is implemented in our school as an open source project.. hmmmh., I have quite confuse bout it coz the output of my study was information and not the effect on the community.

That was fun when I went to Nodal to find guides regarding my research methodology. How come, it never comes out on my mind to read some researches from the previous batches in IC? When I got there, a few minutes later the group of kuya James came to read some of it also. Hehehe...

With my reading, I found out one thing that lacks on my paper, and that was the statistical method. It deals with how would I interpret the gathered data that I would be having. I don’t really understand the ‘descriptive-correlation’, 'z-test’, etc. gosh. Even though I tried to ask them what are they all about they doesn’t even know that much. haiz..

Hmmh, I’m not fully sure with it, coz I don’t have enough knowledge in conducting research, I am open for your suggestion regarding my methodology – more especially with the instruments I should use, and the way I should interpret it… thanks a lot ^.^

My FOSS advocacy was developed when this was introduced and studied in our Elective1 – Many of us had been using this, yet most of us didn’t recognize it as FOSS because of the lack of awareness regarding in this concept.

Open Source Software is indeed could help our school community in ICT aspects more especially in software application. Most of the experts could even say that FOSS is so essential in third would country just with us , and to the underprivileged school- USeP as to mention, a state university- where in available technology could still be attained.

This Go FOSS Campaign could bring out to the USePians, not only to the ICeans, the benefits and the importance of FOSS in our education.

P.S. i appreciate the initiative of Management of Information Systems's USeP students fro wide spreading the awareness through this campaign...let this be our advocacy also..

By the time I was making the part of the proposal which deals with “review of related literature”, I was lil bit tired coz of too many literature related with FOSS. I do want to read them all, there are so many interesting works and papers with different topics about it, yet I can’t because of limited time. Some deals with FOSS in business forms, some in academe, some deals with the FOSS community, and many more. Reading such documentations really fun, through it I had learn more about FOSS, more especially how we students get involved when our university would migrate to FOSS.

…Yet this is said to be still a weird thing, even some part of the country uses Firefox as its web browser, OpernOffice.org as its office document, and some utilizes Linux distributions as its Operating System, there is still fears and reverences in the heart of the Filipino people. Yet as a whole, FOSS really play big role in the Philippines, not only in improving the ICT industry, but also improving the computer literacy, and providing sustainable software to the masses. Indeed, academe is one of the beneficiaries of FOSS…

I’d never imagine myself making a research paper even though this is just a proposal. wattah.! I just started drafting the documentation last2 weeks. That was Friday, ocsc cap when I submitted my Gantt chart and drafted paper regarding the introduction (situational analysis), significance of the study, and the objectives. That time, I thought sir gamby didn’t check my works, yet when I saw it last Monday, I was amaze that my Gantt chart was approved by him, with a comment “very good… congratz” weeeh.! Even though my paper works has blue ink with his comments and remarks, I felt so happy coz at least I had done great, and had accomplished something that time. Hmmh, I was a lil bit glad about the comment of sir on my Gantt chart coz some refer it as there guide…
Hmmh, in writing introduction, I had learned that global, national, and local situations should be stated. Hmmh, I was so happy that I’m right that I had considered the macro entities as my beneficiaries, yet there should be researchers involved.

That was yesterday when this festival gets started. I really doubt about it coz the day was ruined by the rain. I doubt also on the sensation of this event because of how our local council prepared and managed this.

Hmmh, honestly I get ashamed with the other departments and with the visitors. This is not a festival! This is just an Org day! Gosh! Compared with the previous years’ fest, this is the worst, not because the rain always destructs the day yet with how the activities are uninteresting and unprepared. As I remember from the last years, with at least two weeks before the festival, iCeaNs were get busy working there assigned production, yet now? There’s no ambiance of the ghosts practicing in the ground floor. All were impromptu, from the sports, musical, dance, literary even up to the awarding night…gosh!

I understand how school works stresses us out yet this is our festival, this is the time we get together, leave temporarily the pressures dealt by school projects, and must have fun! Yet as I evaluate, it bored me, haiz…

Hope so next year, there’s an iCean Festival where I could be proud of, I could have fun, and I could treasure as one of my best memories in college life. Weeeh.! Hoping so…

The Art of Cramming

1:38 AM 9/5/2008. That’s the time I start writing this entry. It’s already too late at night, yet I’m still with my school works in front of the computer screen at my desk. This situation wasn’t unusual on my part coz it seems that sleeping late became my practice. Yet, if before I’m just doing nonsense or any fun stuffs, now was said to be different. I tend to make it a big deal coz it’s odd when it relates on the studies. Doing paper works with pressure would of course create stress on my part.

Few hours later, there would be a calling for the ICean festival in our school. Every ICeans would definitely busy for introductions and other activities. And I won’t doubt if there were just few higher years which would participate for the said activities. Fourth year studs were tied up with the subject CS Research, not only that, of course with other subjects such as System Analysis and Design which was said to be the deadline of our midterm project, and the Elective 1, where in the week discussion deals with Linux Standard Base.
Even though I started my research last week, I can’t help my self from working hard just to fit the short time allocated for the documentation of my research proposal. I don’t want to mess this day, and end up going to school just to take a sleep. What a big gosh.! I just try my best to have fun, and enjoy the day with the few energy left on me. I don't have that talent to be proud of, yet i could be the best cheerer.! hehehe

Sometimes we made decisions for the thought that what we did was right. Yet how could you say so? Even me could admit it was the concept of being ‘selfish’, coz even how hardly I convince myself it was for the common good, it was indeed just for my own good…

Have you ever fall in love? I guess so, coz If not then you’re such a loser jejeje…nobody is loser for sure…
We experienced to admire as well as to be admired, to love and be loved.

Have you ever be courted with a guy, not just one but two or even more, (wow kw na jud jeje) then fall on the both of them? Or a situation where in you just fall with the other guy while you let someone court you? Too complicated? Yet if you’ll just able to evaluate it, one was said to be your priority and the other was just an option, am I right? Have you ever wonder that in the first place you’re such a selfish? You could obviously view it at the decision point of time, yet try to realize, it was all started when you decided to be part of his life, when you gave hope, and you make him fall for you…
And in the end you’ll cast for what is right… make sense?

Am I too biased? I guess not. If doing right is to be selfish then, making good is the positive one. Yet does good really good? Examine…
Have you ever be loved by your close friend? And then you treasure him/her that much…but just as a friend? (Affected ko huhu) if then you try to do what is good (for others), are you ready to give up for your own feelings? Does goodness for others, good for you? Or just you then apply for what is right?

Open NFA Dissemination

We can’t deny the fact that the NFA rice that we tend to neglect before creates a big role in the last few months due to the rice crisis in our country. A big percentage of the rice that we consumed greatly depends on the NFA, a government project. This research would greatly deal in the concern of the Filipino citizens in the midst of crisis. Let’s not wait another crisis before we make a move in the management of its dissemination.

a review from a reflection

The article that I have chosen to review is from Charmaine Abrenica's post which deals with “Technologically Enabled Crime: Shifting Paradigms for the Year 2000”. Even the topic points out the year 2000; I still chose it coz the message tells the reality even with this current year, more especially in the more years to come. As I read her reference, it greatly focus in the idea of anti virus software to forbid the damages dealt by computer virus attacks. It details also the solutions on how to minimize the technology crimes dealt by the nasty behavior of people towards technology.

I like the way she discussed the research content, it didn’t focused only in the computer virus phenomena which had been the core issue made by the author in the study. Ms. Abrenica directed her discussion in relate with the research title which made her readers understand what’s the message of the research she is reviewing of.

As technology’s trend inclined rapidly, the way of thinking of individuals was also petrifying coz it may contribute for the better development or for the worst. Through technology, we people tend to formulate solutions intended to the problems that were indeed created from the unwise use of knowledge of people and modern technology. If only we think for a better and technology would be utilized well, I guess even a slow growth of technology would greatly be appreciated.

FOSS with Open standard: a USeP open source project

As I observed, most of the institutions (academic and business) in Davao uses proprietary software; mainly the Microsoft products which dominates in this aspects… In this way, we cant deny the fact that vendor lock-in may introduced.

I have read an entry which tackles if the USeP should adopt OSS... Even I, would say a big yes… The thing here is, are we ready for it/ or for this such change? its so easy to say yes, yet there are so many issues to be considered first…

I want to have this research proposal with my advocacy to the FOSS implementation in school. This proposal would cover the various FOSS correlated for the academe use, issues involved (risks, and benefits); and the challenges in implementation and the designed strategies…
Since we have our elective1 which focused in Open standards, this study is associated with that concept also…I guess with my elective1 subject, it would at least guide me thru this study.

For me, this proposed study would be helpful in effective implementation of FOSS in school. Awareness, appreciation, and insight with the possible consequences would be a guide for a successful implementation.

There so many things that would be great to be implemented in school., more especially that were a state university and we cant deny the fact that were lack of funds and resources... yet there so many available and free technology that should be utilized., and FOSS is one of it...

Internet service in school is said to be one of the controversial issues to deal with. In fact, most of the students’ internet account wasn’t utilized well. It was like make the longest line game whenever I’m in the second floor of the USeP’s Engineering building, and if you’re a newcomer, you would ever wonder what’s behind that line. Anyway that became a usual thing already to most of the IC students.

Slow connection is the worst factor! I guess that’s one thing why most of the ICeans tend to netsurf outside the school rather than wasting their time in Nodal. And definitely, that’s the reason why there so many CS and IT students restricted in Nodal.

Changing IP configuration and bypassing the system Logger is a sin!

Yet no one knows that is against the rule! Yeah, I admit it’s unethical yet do you think all these lapses were just on the students’ side? Is it there mistakes when the security is not that tight enough and the system has overlooked functionality against hackers? Anyway, I didn’t tolerate there doings however, I guess that controversy mustn’t solely be the students wrong coz admit it or not, there are vulnerabilities that are to be the management’s concern.

In a nutshell, not just the students must learn from this issue indeed, the Nodal Management as well.

Let me share with you guyz what I have learned in our SE subject. “Users are good testers to discover system faults” this is one way for us to be more innovative. In addition, we IT people must adopt the “egoless” attitude. If there are faults and misleading, it was just the part of the system, not on the developers own. Blaming system failure to a certain group is unethical in technical aspects. Hope we both learn from this mistake…

problem in Finding a problem

What I really love about IT is the challenging factor- I admit this is one of the main reason why I pursue this course. Yet I’m not that damn enough to say that I love all of them. CS Research- the hardest one I’d ever encounter! If only I could escape form this torturing subject. HUHU…

Problem is such a usual thing on us guyz, I know it. More especially, we’re in the field of IT, from math, algorithms, system, and now in research. In my 4th year in IC, I guess this is said to be the hardest thing- “finding a problem”. I really want to deal with a good area for my research; yet, counterpart on it is the complexity of the study.

At first, I do want to propose an instructors web portal with the utilization of FOSS, from pHp for user interfacing and mysql for its database. Its intended purpose is to have the collaboration of instructors here in Davao to foster a better education to there students - discussions and setting standards in guidelines, syllabus, references, activities, forums etc. It was just like our webforum however, the system will be specialized to the instructors’ side. What really bothers me about this is the implementation time. Actually, I’m not that freak genius to program an effective system on my own, more especially using pHp!!!

Now, I’m trying to find out a good solution in regard with our school internet. Yet I don’t have that such wise idea to render that problem, said to be in research level. I tend to find other problems too, with reachable solution. But it is said to be difficult enough, I don’t wanna give up and admit that I’m in my end of thinking capacity. Haiz... Help me guyz! I badly need your sharing about this.

I tend to make images in Adobe Photoshop, and based on experience, I like its output. I really appreciate the PSD Format (Photoshop) coz of its Excellency in preserving documents, however, this is said to be a proprietary format.

In dealing open image formats; JPEG format is very common unto us especially we are more dealing in web; in fact JPEG format is said to be very good in showing photographs on the web, however, it could result a poor quality if we would make an editing so it is not recommended for archiving.

So for me the best format is in PNG; it is best for archival storage, there is no loss of quality even it is edited repeatedly; even it is said to have a large file size coz of its no compression artifacts and full color images; yet for me a good quality of its actual appearance is more considerable. That is why, PNG is the best for me, in fact this is said to be the Open standard in image format.

It is in fact that there so many journals created, yet only few were said to be important and published. There are different levels of journal prestige and not all papers qualifies the most well known. Some rejected papers would be submitted to the other one, and so on, till it was published by their tier-level. However usually, top-tier journals rejects more than 50% submitted unto them. Some needed to be edited, even though generally they contain a good research.

The author’s track record could be one of the factors in publishing success. That is why it is undeniable that some writers include the names of established scientists even though they just contribute a little in their work.
Experience is one of the factors too. The authors know the pitfalls and obstacles in publishing, more especially in top-tier journals; that is why it could be easier for them for the next paper to be published.

In the top-tier’s side; valuable contribution rather than original contributions to knowledge is what they prefer. Originality is a persuasive factor however, accuracy and wise interpretation is preferable. One thing also is the manuscript topic - hot topics rather than unfashionable subjects.

In addition, publishers use a peer review for criterion. Even though this is said to be flexible, yet there is still standard to be considered. Many says that influential factors include the need of clarity, originality of thought, novelty of finding, organization, completeness, and good writing. Skousen, professor in West Virginia University, states that most of the elegant research is just simple and direct. According to Byrne also, journal publisher, a flawed or poorly planned study design and lack of details in methods were two elements which often lead to a rejection.

Knowing these factors would help even to us young writers to create good researches which would correspond to there standard.

Spending time with them is worthy. There’s no way for them to miss new fun things, just as there logic game which deals with abstract reasoning. That was really fun! “12345~ if this is five ~ what’s the next one?” even our professors twisted there minds just to solve this confusing game. Different patterns were made, MDAS, addition or subtraction with modulus 5, even a hunch; yet at the end you’ll discover it was just a game with a simple logic trick…

What’s really fun about them is there English speaking SOP. You must orally speak even it is said to be in “broken English”. It was a nice stuff, not just to have fun but also at the end of the day you’ll realize, your English was improved AT LEAST by 1% hehehe…

At this point they are now introducing again the “world of rubik's cube”. Such a nice thing to deal with; Keep up that attitude guyz! Love u all!

Storage-Memory Technology

From 3.5 floppy disk to a flash drives – that is the new paradigm in students side in terms of data storage. I dunno if there is still utilizing the 3.5 floppy disk, which is said to be obsolete nowadays. Flash drives indeed were just said to be freebies or tokens even in a simple gathering in our school. The capacity is there yet at low cost.

Believe it or not; there is now the introduction of 1.5 TBytes HDD. “The Seagate Barracuda drive, supplies 1.5 Tbytes on four 3.5 inch disk, and said to be the highest capacity ever announced in Hard Disk Drives.

This is said to be a lot of storage to be imagined however, I know we haven’t reached the end, coz taking up the advantage of the our great advances in technology, I’ll expect a higher capacity would be released in this next few years; more storage, more variety of it, and in a more innovative means. Even now the IBM is said to be working on its new storage memory technology which is the magnetic race-track which would render the good capacity, speed, reliability and cost. Keep it up!

P.S: I just laugh when our previous batches presented this concept in there future tech subject; a Terabyte CD; yet this new info made me realize that what we have imagined from today would be possible in tomorrow.

Quality of a Good Research

Research is judged accordingly with its quality.
The research topic must be relevant; it has the potential for additional knowledge and understanding of issues associated with its topic. It is favorable if it introduces new idea than making replications of the existing studies; originality is highly recommended.
Most of the research studies’ weak point is that its methodologies and techniques are mismatched with its research questions. Coherency is one quality of a good research. Its methods must cater the solution on the problem.
Having an effective data gathering could result to a good research study also. There are principles in conducting data collections, analysis and interpretation which would guide the researches to find reliable and appropriate information. In this way, they could produce a clear and organized research to the public and open to be reviewed and scrutinized.
Good research must be ethical also; in the way, it portrays the accurate situation and abides for any confidentiality. There must also an open recognition of the contributors of the study.
Most of all credibility is necessary. Its conclusions, reports and studies must be justifiable and believable to its readers. There are so many factors to be considered before we could say that, that certain research is good, yet before we must deal with the content of our study, we must put in mind that our research must be sensible from the demands of our society.

Through Open standards we could get benefits from them. One of these is the concept of “no technology or vendor-lock in”; endorses interoperability among different system – in this way, we tend not to use a specific software to read/ write any data file just to ensure that it would be accessible; and it is open to the publics’ choice – through this, many vendor could participate, mix-and match is said to be possible and the improvement and development is straightforward just to cater the users’ demand.
Yet in dealing with the concept “interoperability” there so many things we must put in mind. Not only the Open standards but also the proprietary standards can have the interoperability among different types of systems; and this interoperability is also possible to the technology provided by a single source; (that is truly undeniable) and the most common apparent thing is that we observed less interoperability because of lack of open standards.

HSM3 is on board…

I was amazed when I heard from tv that Disney had a production of HSM3. As I observed even from an incomplete trailer, the story and theme was so interesting. Prom and graduation – it triggers me to recall the last year of my high school days.

"HSM3 deals with the struggles of Troy and Gabriella with the idea of there separation as the college approaches. And along with the casts, they present a spring musical address to there experiences, and hopes and fears about the future."
I have heard rumors also, that they have there new 3 casts to help bring surprises, new twists, and more interesting story. This would be a great movie!

Last day, I started to reread the book of Nicholas Sparks, jeje nothing to do something weird. In fact I had read this a month ago, but still I felt just I’d never read this before. It so awkward to remember my first reading on this, it was at Gen Office, at first I smile, yet at the end even I tried not to be too receptive, I cried. I guess once you started your reading, then, you don’t have any way for an escape. Well, this story deals with the memories of Landon and Jamie. About the guy who felt so embarrassed with the companion of an unattractive weird girl. Yet in a sudden, anything had changed.I really like the character of Jamie; she tends to change Landon for a better; from a cool and arrogant to a respective and sincere guy. I was so touched. Honestly I felt jealous, I really hoped so that I could be just like Jamie, even not as pretty as she is, yet with something with her that’s really amazing – an influence to change someone in unobtrusive approach.It was so fun coz I wished somehow I could also find a guy like Landon, where some kind I could realize the value of mine, not just as his gF yet as a human.Hmmh, if you’ll ask me what the best part of the story is? All… though my tears trigger more when Landon proposed Jamie – a wish comes true…
This story was released as a movie and I guess most of you had watched this before, however, all I could say, there is something behind the book that haven’t expressed in the movie.Somehow remember this, I warned you, just as the author warned me too.

Open Standards and FOSS

Countless people made the misconceptions between the open standards and FOSS. FOSS is a software, and open standards deal with the standards. Even in the issues in developing the two is apparently different. Proprietary software could implement open standards, as well as FOSS could implement the proprietary standards. So let must be aware of that.
However, Open standard is said to be good if the FOSS implements it. Free access, improvements, and easy participation really fit in the FOSS principles. One thing also is that it endorses the wide spread of implementation and acceptance of the FOSS. Relative on that, FOSS could help the Open standards through its promotion. The free and open implementation of the standard is more possible if it is accessible for testing, usage and modifications; and indeed, most FOSS embrace that factor resulting to a wider acceptance and it could help also to popularize the standard they employed in their product.
To sum it up, FOSS and Open Standard is different, however, in many environments and practices, the Open Standards go-hand-in-hand with the FOSS.

Role of CS Research topic in the future career

CS Research doesn’t limit on the concept of studying certain area to produce new knowledge, thus it shapes also our possible future career. What’s really the benefit of conducting research of the students like us is the “career connection”. Choosing a research topic determine our interest and lifestyle. Each of us aimed to have a profession in line with our field and interest, in this way, our research study deals in this issue. Conducting research with our chosen topic helps us to gain more knowledge about it; coz this study requires more related information and works, determining what its history and future might be, and knowing its nature. Through this concept also, we could build confidence of what the career we would take in the future because of the imparted knowledge that we’ve gain.
In general, conducting research shapes us to be responsible professional in the future. Even we might not refer our future career with our research topic yet in the end we’ll figure out that we could apply our developed technical skills in writing, knowledge in methodology, computer and statistical skills and our innovativeness.

As an IT stud, it is preferable if we focus our research in IT related field also. Even though research is not that simple enough because of many considerations, however, dwelling in IT area would be advantageous on our part because it associates our interests and lifestyle. Researches should probably be addressed on the technical problems in our society; proposing solutions, and focusing the study on the local community-mainly the students where interactions and observation is more possible. I guess as an IT stud, one great topic should be addressed on how to improve our learning and develop technology application in/for our university.

i love my friends

Gimmicks and hang-outs seem to be a wooly lifestyle. I experienced bar hopping, have some drink together with my berks, but it all could be said ‘once in the blue moon’. Such experiences could be unforgettable…

I never thought such an ordinary day with usual friends could be treasured for a lifetime. That was last Friday of June, an Org day in our school; all of us didn’t have a class. Habitually, after school, me with my group mates’ destination is on internet café, submitting our online forums and assignments then after it, in Gly’s flat making projects. Watta busy day!!!

However that time, I was said to be in lone. All of them have different issues to be considered moreover, it was weekend; too long hour to spend through with nothing.

Instead of going home early, to have some rest, to restore my health, and to refresh from a stressful week, I was then spend my time with my friends chatting, playing, and enjoying the day all over.

It was fun; playing Killer-Killer tends me to remember my childhood days. They were all seems to be just like a kid, laughing altogether without realizing were all now College studs, flapping the hands of the looser one and then better watch out on your turn for a revenge.

Circling on group at the field is also missing; different crazy things come out just to have fun. There are so many people around, with Vincent-the question mark guy (hehehe), the merchant ROTCs, the Org performers and obviously the hundreds of USePian studs.

When the rain starts to fall, I thought it was the end of the great day. As usual the ‘tambayan’-food court, was the next destination ‘til the rain would then stop. I was shocked when they tend to still play killer-killer even in that setting, and then as the looser you must have the choice between the ‘truth and truth’?? ajejeje watta sense. That scene was said to be eMo, so let’s just leave it out.

3^rd destination-MaQs…I love the idea of having Hannah as the servant for preparing the group’s utensils, at least she could loose .0000001 pounds for that effort ajejeje. I found also that Mel became open now for giving comments and punch lines. It seems that all were said to be ok. What’s really unforgettable in that set is entitled “Mel with his watermelon”. Just ask the group why. I really thought that you would then swallow the seed Mel jejeje.

4^th destination- Jabs internet café. I got a li’l upset about it coz I do better want for us to be in Jalil’s house (huh); yet the night has still nice scenes to be remembered. We logged-in for the purpose of playing DOTA, and then changed with counter strike; until it was ended with the boys playing computer game while the girls with their friendster and blogs jejeje.

That day I’d realized there so many changes happened with my friends- and that was “closeness”. That’s the time I saw again ate gel’s smile; Mel didn’t made a big deal with his savings and expenses; Hannah’s consciousness in her diet?; Jalil’s closeness with the other girls(hehehe of course they’re just 3 boys left in our batch, he must now adopt in this new environment), and Kate’s bounteousness (libre nlng ung net Kate jejeje).

Spending time with them is so missing. I guess someone could say, I’m too exaggerating with my feelings, yet that was real; maybe because I’m too focused with my studies, tightened with my group with different affairs. I hope there is still another day to spend through like this. Thanks guyz!!!

State of Computer Science Research and its technical topics

Gathering information, conducting researches and performing data analysis is significant in our society’s survival. In current trend of technology, our dependence in cyber infrastructure is increasing and became more intricate; due to this, most systems that would render the necessary and efficient service is prone to failure. Threats, vulnerability and risks pose challenges in the development of model cyberspace system.
Cybersecurity is one of the aspects that we must deal with. Some organizations and institutes facilitate researches to practice information assurance with regards to this matter. I have read also the statement of Wm. A. Wulf subject to the future of computer science research in US. He more emphasizes that the future of researches is greatly affected by the resources available, in the mean point, funding is a great issue. New ideas are needed, just as in cybersecurity research, but instead of temerity, conservatism was imposed. Decline in the success rates of proposals indeed has a significant negative impact, however, we must have the courage to explore things and open for discoveries and innovations. One of the highlights of his words is that the thought of research funding is not merely an expense but instead it is an investment.
Based on the other articles that I had read, research institutes and even universities shape the skills of its students, graduates, scholars and practitioners through cooperative research. They impart knowledge on how to improve cybersecurity, examine efficiency, cost and its impact to the people and technology.
This issue reflects the state of computer science research as a whole and truly this kind of investment could lead the development of our future technology.

The technical topics related in this issue deals with – cybersecurity, communication, information system.

The Object recognition system’s concept is quite usual to everyone. Once I visited a site, myHeritage.com, it sounds like this kind of model. The user uploads its picture then the system would make face recognition and suddenly search from its database any celebrities that closely look alike. However, this technology is more reliable in object recognition. It employs techniques for shaped based objects and texture based objects.

Shaped based objects are those with have strong part-to-part correspondence between the examples, and to detect, standard windowing is used. The usage of suppression technique for maximum reliability of detection truly helps to improve the capability of the system. The system utilizes also the pixel-wise detection of texture based objects. This kind of technique suits for the unclear visible interobject parts because it is better described by the image texture rather than geometric structure. Yet based on findings, it tends to be unreliable when the receptive field of unit overlaps a texture boundary.

The goal of this computer vision which is to build a system that achieves human level recognition performance is really amazing. I always think of it more times on how do computer overcomes from the capability of the biological visual system. Yet in the end of my reading, the limitations of the system avowed time to time. It is undeniable that their system exhibit competitive performance than the other systems yet there’s no way that it exceeds the human recognition capability; yet at least, their making a step for more improvements. As I go through the reading, I find that their system is a far way better than the system used by the others. As part of my observation, compared on the results flashed back to me by the other sites which use also this kind of technology, the robust object recognition really has a cortex-like capability. Their concept could really help from investigations and other object recognition related matter. This technology I guess is really interesting.
